Lately the Uly has been cutting out after rides, starting when I lean the bike onto the kickstand. If I start to lean it down, and the pick it back up before the engine completely shuts off, the idle will usually pick up the engine will continue.

When it does shut off, even with the kill switch set to on, the fan will not come on like it usually does after shutting down. If I turn the bike back on however, and then shut it off again with the killswitch, the fan will come on.

Any ideas?

(Just recently changed plugs/wires and checked battery).

That's pretty weird, which makes me think cracked ECM(? ) Check threads on relocating ECM for more info.

Remember that the kickstand is actually mounted on the underside of the engine and the engine is mounted on rubber.
The engine is being pushed upwards a small amount and that's poking a wire or something.
Spark plug wires and chassis grounds may be your enemy here.

Or the BAS is acting up...

+1 on Ratbuell's suggestion. Check the bank angle sensor. Error code 44 I believe.

Note if you are turning the bars to the left when you get off from the bike.

Try doing it without moving the bars at all.

It looks like the BAS was moved by the PO. On the diagram I have, it's screwed into a brace either by the ecm, or towards the rear of the seat. On my bike, it is loose tucked under another bundle of cables.
Unfortunately. I don't have ECM spy and in the process of looking for the BAS, I noticed a nice leak coming from somewhere near the top of the rear rocker, with a puddle on the tray under the fan. Gasket I'm guessing?

Might have to take it in to the mech.

Etennuly- I thought about it possibly being related to tweaked wiring by the bars, but either way I turn the bars (or no turn at all), same effect.

My vote's on the BAS too. What if the sensor just got out of position somehow. Then the ECM would think the bike was at an extreme angle and shut down normally with no code. I know that when I dropped my bike, it shut down and was fine when I picked it back up with no codes (well fine other than the damage that is).

Scratch that, mistook the BAS with another connector. The BAS is in the correct, post-ecall area.

The BAS circuit latches when tripped.
If it's tripped, you have to cycle the ignition off and then on again to wake the engine up.
I still vote loose/chafed wire.

Could be a rear rocker cover gasket (fairly big job to replace) or the rear PCV valve could have popped out of the rocker cover (easy fix) or PCV hose could have come loose (easy fix). You'll need to pull the inner and outer airboxes off, plus the baseplate to see.

I'm with Etennuly... Something is chafed or cracked in the bundle that goes out from under the flyscreen and into the frame. A little annoying to pick it all apart, but not a terrible job. Run each wire through your hand and feel for broken internal conductors. And check the factory solder joints / crimps.

I'll check the wiring bundle today. As far as the PCV goes, I didn't notice a leak when I had the air box off to change the spark cables. If the PCV was the culprit, the leak would start from the top of the rocker, no? It seemed like the leak was coming from where a gasket would be?

What side of the bike is the fuel pump on? My 1125 would occasionally stall out on the sidestand when the fuel was low. Its pump is on the right side, so it would starve fuel when leaned to the left and recover when straightened up. I'm guessing that might be your situation?

Fuel pump in on the left side.
Little hatch at rear of frame.

That's what leads me to think it might be a PCV valve or the hoses. It'd be fairly easy to dislodge one when you had the airbox base off or were putting it back on. If it's a rocker box gasket leak, it normally takes a while to accumulate that much oil. Whatever it is, if you get a lot of oil in your fan you should replace it while you're in there as it's apt to fail before long.

Hell, the cut out problem dosen't matter any more.
After you have to disassemble the whole bike, hang it from the ceiling, and rotate the engine down to replace the $5 rocker gasket you won't even want the bike any more.

Sorry about the lack of update. The leak was indeed the rocker-cover gasket. I didnt have the time or the equipment (or maybe the aptitude) to do it at home, so I hung my head and took it to the HD dealer in the area. Had it back in a day with an empty wallet.
As for the engine cutting out...I couldn't find any pinched or frayed cables. I re-checked my plugs/wires and they looked good. I did another TPS reset. HD told me they did an AFV(sp) reset? Either way, the problem is gone for now. The bike has been running great for the past few days. I'm crossing my fingers.
