So I am belting down the road. Its cold, dark, the road is slippery (salt), weaving in and out of traffic and having a great time of it. Until I see I am doing 80, needle at 12, in a 40 limit. I have a VERY, VERY bad habit of riding winter roads like I do in summer. The problem, or not, is that the Uly just DOES it with no drama or scary moments. Things like wet polished manhole covers or crap roads have now become a fear of the past. A case in point is that I hit a hole on a bend at 70, on my 06 bike, that felt bad but the bike rode over it with no problems. That was at night but I then got to see this in daylight. Man it was not a hole it was a trench and at least 2 inches deep?

The marque of a fast road bike is how it handles at speed. I have had the Uly to 120 and it still feels strong and "planted" on the road. It does have a point, at about 90, that the front can feel a little light but its not unsafe and is no problem once you know about it.

I told my wife not to be surprised when I get a speeding ticket on the Buell. I frequently find myself quite a few mph over the limit. Not on purpose, the bike just goes and it goes smoothly.

The first time I rode it in the twisty bits was almost a religious experience.

When I first got my 06, I was playing hooligan in traffic because the low end torque and the high riding position made it so much easier than my low slung crotch rocket. I was playing cut and thrust and darted in front of a car that turned out to be an unmarked police car...it was a motorcycle cop who's bike was in the shop and he was not at all amused by my shenanigans. He read me the riot act and let me go with a warning, but I remarked to him that I had gotten rid of my 160 hp crotch rocket because I thought it would get me in trouble.

No, you are wrong!

The Uly is just a bad influence on good people!

I found it helps to have a wife that is a lawyer and does not share your last name.

Back in 2006, I was riding my Uly back from centtal Wisconsin after working all day up there laying a laminate floor at a friends house. I had been up for a long day with about 500 miles of riding, while riding home on the interstate, I was cruising along and almost falling asleep while driving, I kinda woke up and looked down at my speed and I was running almost 90 mph. That woke me up quickly. I then opened my face shield and continued to drive on home, but the motorcycle is so smooth at highway cruising you have to be careful when driving.
