Hi everybody.
A few pictures of my 2010 XT. Number 49 of the few that were manufactured for the European market. This one ended in my garage near Lyon, France.
A general picture to start with :

Then a few other pictures to highlight some mod's I've made:

This bike is a pure wonder.
I've been reading the numerous thread on BadWeb since I've acquired the beast, and I appreciate how helpful these are, especially to my two left hands .

Today, with some sun coming up at last, I took it for a short ride in order to check everything before the coming season (must admit I'm a "sunshine" rider now).
Riding the XT, I had the strange feeling it would fall in sharp turns. Maybe the tires are so cold after 3 months without riding that they caught some sort of weird shape ? I did check the pressure before the ride, and added a few pumps up in both tire.
Also, I checked the oil as it should be done, i.e. hot. There was too much. I'm sad to report that the last time someone checked this was during the last visit to the local HD dealer for the 5000 miles check !!! Do they still know how to maintain Buells ?
I managed to retrieve a little bit of the over fill, but not enough to get back to the normal level. I'm still about 5mm above the max limit.

I'll take any advice on those two issues.

Happy riding to all !

The pictures didn't seem to have made it to the post !
I'll try again.

Here are the pics

Most of you guys are knowledgeable enough on this stuff, so you'll recognize the Palmer brackets, the Aprilia mirrors, the Larger H&B topbox. Voltmeter and watch are from Motosens. I've lost the brand names for additional led front lights and thermometer.
The "golden" bar that supports the voltmeter and the watch comes from the local Diy store. It's tainted steel and usually used to install shelves.

Any idea where my weird feeling comes from ?
And what might happen with a slightly overfilled oil tank?

Looks like a Pirelli (Diablo?) on the front. That wasn't stock. What tire is on the rear? Is it a 180x55?

I had to run a D205 in 170x60 on my Uly with a scorpion sync on the front (road trip blow out and had to get home). It flopped into turns just like you described. Put on a new pair of Michelin Pilot Road 2's or Pirelli Scorpion Trails and it will likely go away.

Say what? My '08 XB12XT came from the factory with Pirelli Diablo Strada's, as did the '09 XT's. Then in '10 XT's were equipped with Pirelli Angel ST's - which is what the front tire is on this '10 XT. Since Diablo Strada's aren't made anymore I have had Angel ST's on my XT for the past few tire changes.

I'm puzzled why you say Pirelli's weren't stock,

That falling over feeling is a bit unnerving but best handled by the throttle. Crank on the gas and she'll stand back up. Make sure your suspension is adjusted properly and the tires are up to pressure, preferably with Nitrogen. Get your counter steering figured out and use your happy handle a lot and you'll bring her right into focus.

Over oil will blow right through the breather.

Damn nice bike - I'm missing my 08 - coveting yours!

Flopping could be tire wear. Tire pressure. Improper suspension settings for the weight of the rider.

Nice looking Uly. I'd be interested to know the brand of LED lights - they'd work well on my 1125CR, nice and small and low-draw. If you do find the name, please post it.

My bad, I thought they all came with the Dunlops or the Syncs.

About the oil level is dirt easy go a to chemist buy a big syringe, then buy some rubber pipe to fit on the end of the syringe and suck up with the syringe the excessive oil.

Hi All,
Many thanks for your feedbacks.
My tires are the Pirelli Angels. They came stock. They only have about 5k miles, and don't look worn out at all at least for the time being. I've checked the pressure before riding it, and it was fine.
I'd rather think that my riding has become very bad out of not using it enough...
As Conshop pointed, I needed to rework my counter steering.

@ Ratbuell, here is the link to my additional lights. I purchased the electrical harness and handling bar from Palmer, reworked it a bit to enlarge the holes at both ends of the bar, twisted the whole thing a bit to have the lights correctly aimed, and now it's working just fine. The light range is relatively wide on mine, not a real beam - which is good as I wanted to put light on the road sides that are totally black when riding on twisties. It seems the ones the now sell are more forward reaching.

@Pontlee77, yes I thought about the syringe stuff. Just didn't have that handy. Will find some standard 10ml Benton Dickinson some place. They have a big plant close to my place

Suck some oil out and check it with the engine running.

Welcome!
