Today I bought a 2009 Buell XB12X Ulyssess with less than 1200 mile, will be in my garage by the weekend Jan. 21, 2013.. Yay !! I owned a 2003 XB9S Lightning, Loved Her, but Sold Her in 2011, and got a 2011 Triumoh TIger 800....Sold it and here I am. | ||

Hey Gang, I am new to the Buell Ulysses. I have a 30" inseam, and I want to lower the seat, I have read several post, that you can't lower the seat, but you can adjust the rear spring, or wear thicker Boots. Any other ideas to gain 1/2" to 1" ?? Thanks Happy Buelling !! | ||

The 2009 (as I recently learned) has the lower seat already. I think you can gain another inch or two by swapping out your X suspension parts with the XT parts. Which I think will interchange with all the other XB12 parts (except for your XB12X). So you could swap forks and rear shock from any XB12 except for the XB12X and lower it. (I think... do more research or wait for somebody who has actually looked into it for real to follow up). I personally think an XB9S with a tall Uly suspension and skyline seat would be incredibly cool, but i don't know what would be required to swap 'em. | ||

Congratulations on finding a later model, low mile Uly! '08 had several upgrades, so your '09 is a pretty well sorted out bike. I don't think '09 came with the comfort kit (right side air scoop), so that's a good thing to add if it doesn't have it already. I'm, also, a short guy, and have put a set of BarkBuster hand guards on. They help protect the bike if you happen to drop it. I've had my '07 X for a little over a year and have enjoyed it a lot so far. You'll mostly just learn to deal with the seat height. | ||

Get suspension bits from an XB12STT (a little lower), or an XB12SS (much lower). Those are both long-wheelbase bikes so all the parts should bolt right up, but as soon as you stray from the Ulysses rear suspension you lose the preload-adjust knob and go back to the tool-adjust setup. | ||

I believe the 06 optional seat(what I have)is a little lower than the stock seat of an 09. Maybe you could find another Uly that has one and try it. Oh and welcome back! (Message edited by mnrider on January 23, 2013) | ||

Congrats on the 09! I love mine. Get the XT shock and your good to go! Many have done it, and reported back saying it worked great for them. There is also a "lowering" puck out there that will give you an extra inch and is a much lower cost option. Do a search here on BadWeb and you will find a number of threads (with pics) on both methods. | ||

@Bpt, I love my 2010 Triumph Tiger 800, I had the Roadie Version (not the 800XC is the Off road with spoked wheels and different Suspension, and semi-knobby tires. I sold it in order to use the $10,000 in cash for a Volkswagon, GLI,2013. Jacksdaddy. You bought the wrong bike, they're just plain big. I think in order to keep you from having problems in the future, I'll bail you out of it. Sell it to me. And cut your losses- say $1500 less than what you paid, OK? Sound fair? Joking, hope you sort it and like it, but I bought mine because I liked the size, and I have a Tiger 955i that feels a little tight. In all seriousness, I'd kill for an 09 with less than 1200 miles! | ||
