Is it usually just the rocker box cover gasket? Or, is the lower rocker box gasket a common problem? With all the grime its hard to tell. I, also, see Cometic gaskets are preferred by some. Where are these available? Any other good tips would be appreciated.

Usually is the rocker cover, there is a new set of gaskets that are taller then the older ones that should prevent the leaks.

What if you don't have oil at the upper Rocker box cover into the fan but have it towards the bottom of the jugs around the outside of the engine case? That is my problem.

first of all i'd try to wash it off and leave it clean and see from where it's exactly coming out, maybe is just sweating, and if it's not much i wounden't bother about it.

But that's my point of view.

Are the new, taller gaskets from Buell Parts? The service manual doesn't mention useing gasket sealer. Should I put it together dry?

the taller gaskets for the rocker box are same as sportster ones, there is no need to use gasket sealer,i would clean the bit of oil before installing the new gaskets.
