Since I changed it out the bike has been running perfect again. Great power and idle in all RPM/throttle combinations. I make a point of what my bike is running like and can tell if there is a problem via can sound, timing, etc.

The thing to know is that you may not be able to tell, without a FI diagnostic tool, if you have a problem with the IAT if it is going bad and the IAT is a primary sensor for FI to work right.

I do not know why mine still worked all I do know is that it DID NOT work as it should have. This gave the ECM stupid numbers which it tried to overcome making the bike run bad. What it would do is read the standing/idle temp fast but also at a higher factor but not go down with the cooler incoming air. Very strange but is now a proven fact that this sensor can be a problem and something that I have suspected for while now since, after many a year on Buell running issue posts, thought could be an issue.

So if your having a problem just flip the IAT outside the air box and see, as I did, what happens. It costs nothing and a new one only costs 12 bucks anyway. No harm in trying?

Uly_man, thanks for the tip. I am considering doing just that. My 08 XT runs great when it is really hot outside and does not run very good when air temp is cold. I'm thinking the IAT is screwed up and the engine is running lean all the time because of it. My next guess would be the Engine Temp Sensor but I will try the IAT first because it is cheap, like me. Thanks.
