Brought home my 06 Uly home last night. Got it for a good price since the previous owner racked up a lot of miles. I love it! It's my second bike and a world of difference from the 93 Yamaha SECA II I was riding! | ||

NC700x is a cool bike. The Uly is cooler.  Looks like the tall windscreen on there. I hated that one, it just buffeted my forehead. I liked stock MUCH better. If you are in the Cincy area (Lebanon actually) you can pop mine on your bike and take a test ride to see the difference. | ||

The tall windscreen works pretty well for me but then again, anything is better than my SECA II. It's running great but will run better once I get rid of the 87 octane the dealership filled it with before I rode home. | ||

Is there an easy way to drain the fuel? I can use that in my mower and feed the Uly what it needs. How are the laminar lips? | ||

Is there an easy way to drain the fuel? I can use that in my mower and feed the Uly what it needs. There's a plug in the base of the fuel pump (lower rear left side of frame) but I think it's kind of hard to drain without a lot of spillage. It might be easier to snake a hose down in the frame, syphon most of it out, and then refill with premium. How are the laminar lips? I think they work very well if you can get the height set properly, which is a hit-or-miss proposition. I have one on my Uly with standard windshield. I had it set fairly low until recently. It worked OK (not great) at that height. A couple of weeks ago I decided to try raising it, so I got out the extra velcro pads that came with it, removed the old pads, and re-set it about 1-1/2 inches higher (pretty much as high as I could get it on the windshield). Now I find that it's much more effective at blocking the wind from my chest, but I'm also getting MUCH more wind noise in my helmet. I may order some more velcro pads and see if splitting the difference in the two heights is a better compromise. I see they now have velcro strips on the website; I think that'd allow you to "fine tune" the height rather than having to replace the pads every time you wanted to change it. That might be the ticket. | ||

There is, down by the fuel pump that is under the clutch side footpeg. But I've personally never tried to use it. It's cool out (or will be by tomorrow), so you can probably burn it in the bike. Just back off the throttle when you hear it ping. The ECM programming will heal quickly when it gets good gas again. | ||

Now that I think about it, just ride up to your local auto parts store and get a bottle of octane booster and pour it in. Much easier than draining... | ||

+1 on the octane booster, but not a whole bottle. I think the bottles are typically good for 15 or 20 gallons. If you dump in the whole bottle, you might blow the heads off it or something.  | ||

I have found that removing the windshield is sometimes a viable choice. I will usually ride without it during the summer but will pop it back when it gets chilly at night. | ||

Unfortunately, life has been kinda crazy so I haven't been riding as much as I'd like. I did add 2oz of octane booster and it helped the low speed stumbles. |
