I lost my topcase while riding home and didn't realize it until I stopped for gas. Never felt or heard it leave. I bolted on the replacement and am very glad I did. A couple years old and the latch failed. It's a weak spot in the design- the latch vibrates itself to death and the case departs on the freeway or when hitting a big bump. I urged everyone to take preventive action a couple of years ago when it happened. | ||

I also lost my topcase on the freeway. I was lucky because someone picked it up and returned it to me after answering my cell phone. I had no idea it was gone until I stopped for gas about 15 miles down the road. | ||

okay after reading this thread yesterday at work. Riding home on 95 yesterday I kept looking at my topcase paranoid! thanks guys! I want to check the screws to make sure they are tight. I use the top case more than the side cases and I can see why just riding along and not noticing it gone without warning. I usually put my lunch sack in there with cell phone! | ||

I wouldn't care if I lost my cell phone but my lunch, now that's a different story! I always have my cell phone in a pocket in case I should be separated from the bike in an accident. I'd hate to be close to my bike and cell phone but not be able to get to it because of an injury. But, you make a good point about the lunch, I might have to put my lunch in another pocket  | ||
