Well all,

A friend and I had a cup saturday morn. While there a few old friends of my buddy Jeff happened by. After a long discussion about bikes Jeffs friend mentioned he was thinking about a bike again. We told him about a few new bike he might like that were in the price range he had mentioned.

KLR came up, V Strom 650, Kawasaki Versa, these type bikes. Well I bailed out. Turns out this guy rode Jeffs Strom around some and Jeff had mentioned the Buell at the Triumph dealer where I got my Explorer and told him about all the extras and so on. COOL!

About 2 hours later I happend to be at the Triumph dealer picking up my radiator screen gaurd thing. Well here comes Jeffs Buddy Tony. HEY MARC! He said, I rode Jeffs bike and decided to come see the Buell. So I spent 10 or 15 minutes explaining about this and that and why all the spares and he sat on it and loved it.

So I pointed him to the sales guy and bailed. Turns out he rode it and loved it. So now its a pricing game. The dealer had $7400 on it with all the spares and I think he swung a deal at that price out the door. So $6500-$6800 before TTl and whatnot. So if he gets it I will be thrilled to see it around still. I told him I would help him learn the rear wheel dismount and the jack cradle and well you know all the little tools we make or buy to do our own work. Help a brother out ya know! AHahhaaaaa.

So it may be sold. Wish I had met him a few weeks ago. DAMN! HAhahaaaaaa.

Hey All,

The Buell is sold. The guy who is a friend of a friend bought it. So now I guess the schooling will begin. The only thing he did not get from all the spares was the wooden cradle I had made for the muffler jack. They said it was a liability to the dealer if they provided that with it! AHhahaa. Shit! Think he paid around $6800 for it all. He got a hell of a deal and I know I got hosed but hey, the guy seems like a guy that will use it all up.

I will point him in the forums direction.

If interested in getting rid of the muf cradle send me some pictures & a price to ship to 45039 (close to Cincinnati). I've been thinking about putting one together but just haven't gotten around to it yet.

Oh well. It was worth asking & I appreciate the reply. Dealers ... sadly, I just wrote something recently about the place I bought my '09 XT. My 1st & only Buell (currently), but I knew a lot more about the bike than the HD dealer ... which is pretty sad because looking back I didn't know that much.

Thats good for the dealer Marc, Elvis was going to wholesale it to me for 5000 if it sat for another week. Your bud should have pushed harder for a lower price, they would have dropped it to 5500 before selling it to me for 5000.

The key to buying these at a dealer, especially, is that they've got to be reminded that they're an obsolete bike, with a possibility of a lack of parts in the next couple years, expensive parts from being obsolete, and not possible to finance. A cash buyer for one, who understands it all, can push the right buttons and score one for a lot less.

Elvis told me you low balled him. HAHahaa. A mans gotta do what a mans gotta do. I think it was MY personal sales pitch that made the buyer understand what kinda deal he was gettin at even that price.

Elvis said, If the bike sits for a month that he would put the 2 bearing wheel on the bike, the blue airbox cover back on and let it go for $5500-$6000. He was then gonna ebay the 3 air box covers and the 3 bearing wheel and near new tire. Sell the OEM muffler and then bundle the manual and other spare stuff. So you may have had a shot but it would have NOT been the whole shabang! HAhahaa. Bikes sell here year round. It does get slow in the winter but all year riding with a small investment in gear allows for year round fun as it does down there in Florida.

I know he said that, but I'd make the deal with the stuff. We were on a first offer basis, and I'd have moved and so would he, but good for him he found a guy to pay up.

I know that you paid a lot for the stuff you included, but whats it worth on eBay used? For all of it? I'd have probably said $400 more for it with everything, and they'd probably have gone with it.

Tell the guy who bought it that you're so much happier with that Tigger and get him to trade it back. I'll make a deal on it next time! : )

The motto is- you didn't miss the bike, you only missed your turn on it!

Ride safe! Bet you have some of that nice Texas winter coming up, so be careful on the black ice Bud!
