Hey folks. After years and years of not quite talking myself into buying a Buell, it looks like the XB12XT has become my dream bike...

In functional terms, it's exactly what I should be getting. However, I'm not crazy about the larger front flyscreen & windshield, nor do I like the color of the only bike I've been able to find locally.

What would be involved in swapping to an XB12S flyscreen?

It looks like the gauges are the same between the S and the X/XT, and by swapping to the S flyscreen I'd be losing wind/weather protection and that aux power outlet, but that it might fit given the right combination of parts. Is that possible?

It looks to me from what I've been able to see so far, that the front fender and bellypan are the same across all XB models (except the oddball fender on the XB12X), but the airbox cover on the X and XT are Uly-specific. Is that right? Was the X or XT offered in the Cherry Bomb Translucid color? I would love if I could score an airbox cover in that color, with matching XB12S flyscreen and carbon fender and bellypan...

Any info or advice would be MUCH appreciated.

Thanks,
Phil.

The air box covers are the same across the board. The fly screen/headlight bracket swap would be a bit more involved, but not difficult. If you get the XT, the fenders are a direct swap as well.

Wow, thanks for the quick reply!

So, are all XB frames identical? The longer wheelbase bikes just have a longer swingarm?

No, the frames are not all identical, the X, XT, SS, and TT bikes use a frame larger than the XB9s and the S.

That's what I thought, so I had assumed that the long wheelbase bikes could not share airbox covers - but I guess the part where the airbox cover mounts to the frame is the same across the board? Or is the claim that an S cover can go on an XT not correct?

Thanks again,
Phil.

Phil, the airbox covers can be used across the board... the frames are different Between the Uly, the SS bikes, and the S/Scg bikes. But the airbox covers are the same...

This info is all super helpful, folks. I really appreciate it.

I never knew about the huge proliferation of XB12 bikes until I started looking to buy one.

The XBxS flyscreens are really tiny, not much room to tuck stuff under there. All the space with the Uly screen is handy for farkling.

I appreciate that, but the only farkles I'm interested in are my Zumo 450 and pigtail for heated gear. Both work fine on a naked bike.

I'm looking for an XT instead of an S because the XT comes with luggage and a rack - making small appearance mods to the XT is cheaper and easier than custom fitting luggage to an S.
