Now, since the motorcycle resort formerly known as T.W.O. is supposed to reopen next spring, hopefully we can get EBR to show up with their new demo bike trailer! | ||

A demo on a Buell tuber down at the Kansas City Harley manufacturing plant many years ago made up my mind. I had never been on such a powerful bike in my life and I told my wife that some day I would have one. The torque was something I had never before experienced since I was a Jap bike rider. Loved that torque. Even though I had been riding for a few decades, I still didn't know the term, "counter steering", or it's value in taking curves at speed with ease. The demo ride was with a group and it was a bit too fast for my taste but I kept with them the best I could. Today I would have no problems with keeping up through the curves on that same speed of demo and especially on a Buell. I'm very happy for Erik and EBR but am not at all interested in a sportbike. Very interested in his next version of a ULY type bike though. More than likely will jump all over that. For now, my 06 Uly satisfies me just fine. | ||

EGlider- Same thing happened to me. I was not really in the market for a new bike, but a Demo ride on a 1999 X1 sealed the deal for me. Sure the Buells interested me, but riding was believing. I've met Eric, know one of his old engineers very well, and admire what he is trying to do. Sure the bikes are not perfect, and if I wanted a perfect bike, I'd buy a Yamaha, or a Honda, etc... But nothing does it for me like a Buell. Plus the fact that Buell owners invest in the spirit behind what makes the US a great country only makes me more proud to be a Buell owner. At a stoplight a few weeks ago, a couple of younger fellows pulled up on their Sport-Bikes-de-jour, and they were AMAZED at the ZTL brake setup on my Buell. Kept pointing and staring. Acted like they have never seen it before. Yes, Junior, this bike is creative, innovative, unique, powerful and American. No offense to the R1, CBR-RR, GSXR and other hyper-sport bike riders out there, but for me, the Buells do it like no other. | ||

I hope EBR starts gaining some traction. I love watching a dream come together. A $19,000 bike is more machine than I want to buy, but it isn't out of line with uber-premium offerings from BMW, Ducati, MV and Aprilia. Hopefully the performance is in line with the price bracket. | ||

EBRs main problem is going to be able to deal with the, like most other makers, the non "bikey" folk. Things like "surface" rust on a can, a seat that does not suit your own shape ass and crap dealer service is just part of the bike riding deal, always has been and well known by most long term riders. I for one have no need, or wish to pay for, all the stuff makers want to fit on bikes today. Skill, a good suspension setup and good rubber is all I have ever needed. |
