I guess it's the Airhead BMW in me, so help an old guy out. I have a '09 XT and really don't enjoy having to worry about the wheel bearings on cross country trips. This is my situation; I have an opportunity to buy a set of 2003 wheels at less than half the price of 2010 rear wheel. First thing are all the wheels the same for the Buells excluding the CR's and Blast? My thought being, if the bearings are short lived, I'll have a spare set of rims ready every tire change and just change rims and tires. Your thoughts please.

all the wheels are the same and if you upgrade to a better quality bearing you shouldnt have to worry about it

I'd opt for the 2010 wheel.
They won't last forever.
Three bearings are better than two.

Look at it this way:
If you swap out the rear with a new 2010, you WILL have a spare rear wheel waiting in the wings. (your own 2009)

That's what I did for my 2008.

+1 to what Natexlh1000 said. Three bigger bearings with dust seals are WAY better than two normally sized bearings with no dust seals.

I've never had problems with bearings, bear in mind i change the every 15k miles better safe than sorry, and every tyre change i check the bearings. Uly rims are a bit more thick than other xb rims, although there is no major difference.

Uly **X** rims have the reinforcing rim strip. XT rims are standard XB rims. Dimensionally they are all identical (and 1125 rims are the same as well). The only different ones are UlyX rims.
