Has anyone had the tach and speedo lights go out and blink on now and then with all the the idiot lights function normally? I cannot find any electrical problem. Unplugging and plugging the the panel makes no difference.

Yes, same symptom as my 08 XT. It was the panel grounding wire at the head stock single point ground. Conductor was broken inside of the insulation.

Thanks Husky, I'll take it apart tomorrow. Did not consider a wire broken inside the insulation.
