I now have a 08xt. It has terrible start up manners. Starts then spits and sputters and dies 2 or 3 times at least unless I keep messing with the throttle. (my 06 started perfect every time) Have to let it warm up or it will cut out as I ride. Once warm that goes away.

Also it still has that low speed sputter between 2k and 3k rpms. It has the newer style airbox and blow by tubes vented but it didnt cure it.

My questions is..... Once I have the program is there a video I can watch on how it should be setup? I dont want to just start changing things without knowing what I'm doing. Or do I just find someone with the same bike and same issues and change my tables to meet theirs.

Search but didnt come up with much.
Thanks Kris

I know that you have to have the ecm spy cable and ecm spy on your laptop for it to work.

Before doing anything, clean out your Idle Air Control system. Adjusting the ECM is the wrong way to go about fixing what is probably a hardware issue.

My 08 XT can sometimes mess about on idle, will stop after a minute or so and I have to give it a couple of short revs then it will idle fine, it seems to do it more if I'm out a run and stop for a short while, the engine will still be warm but the idle is crap and it will conk out.

Froggy, agreed on that. Will do, they are querky little bikes but I love it.

Weecorey, mine does the same as you describe. Its not so much a cold engine that causes it as it is like a time table after the motor starts. Mine will do it even if the engine is still hot from the last run. Like 15min ago I turned it off and went inside burger king and got my food to go. Took 10 min. Once I started the bike back up it was if it had sat all night. Always has been this way since I have owned it.

It may have something to do with the changing the exhaust out.

Sounds like my '08. After I got mad and ran the snot out of it, it idled fine. If I took it easy before parking it, it wouldn't idle at all. Bucked and pitched like a wild mustang until it got up past 4 grand. Just could not predict how it would act.

I hated to spend the $300 for the EBR ECM but I'd checked everything and couldn't find anything wrong. Finally bit the bullet and am so glad I did. The bike now acts like it should. Idles perfectly every time and is a pleasure to ride.

I'm a convert and highly recommend the EBR ECM. It's like magic!
