I just finished the quick turn throttle mod and it is awesome. Pretty easy to do and it makes grabbing a handful so much easier. There are about a dozen ways to get it done but this pic shows how I did mine. In addition to the glue I used a small brass screw at each end, countersunk and filed smooth to guarantee it would not cause problems. I would have used the r6 throttle tube but didn't want to lose my heated grips.

Pic borrowed from the net.

Curious, interested, and stumped. Can you explain the process a bit more?

By increasing the diameter of the drum (where the cable sits) the throttle requires less turning to go from idle to full throttle. In other words, if you go out and sit on your bike and turn the throttle wide open you will notice it is about a 220 degree turn. After the mod the total distance to full throttle is more like 175 which means you dont have to reposition your hands or twist the throttle so far your wrist is in an unatural bend. Its a common mod if you google (zip tie throttle mod) you can see for yourself.

Amazing. I have ridden Buells for 7 years now, been around here most of that time, including 3200+ posts. And I STILL come across posts like this that make me lust for another mod for the Uly!

If one wanted to do this using the mentioned R6 throttle tube, does anyone have a link to explain what is needed?

Thanks for the post!

Andy, the best tutorial is buried somewhere on one of the Buell specific sights. I printed the pics years ago and followed those to do mine. The r6 tube will drop in but there is a piece that needs to be clearanced with either a dremel or a small diameter drum sander. I will see if I can find the post and if not I will post pics later this week. Its pretty easy to do.

Found it, you may have to join to see it but this is the best tutorial.

If anyone finds a way to remove and re use the heated grip on the throttle side I would love to here about it.

Awesome, thanks!

I know what my next Buell purchase will be... (right after I purchase a new kick-stand bolt to replace the broken one...grrrr...)..

Good post Rwcfrank.

The need to re-position your hand on the throttle grip, once you get to a certain twist point, is not a great idea and bugs me.

As always set up the bike for what works best for you. Even a small change can make a BIG improvement to how the bike runs and/or feels on the road. If you have big hands a foam grip cover like Grip Puppies work great. Not cheap though.

I rode my Uly for 2 months and was disappointed in the throttle response compared to my other bike. Finally realized I was not opening the throttle all the way. Thanks for the heads up.
