So I was installing new plugs and wire last night. I was also going to do a TPS reset too. When i was reassembling everything, I noticed a fitting that I didn't see before. Can someone tell me what it is? Here is a pic...

Inlet port for your carbon emissions canister. Install a carbon canister or cap the port. |

Huh. It's been like that since I bought it. Is it just emissions? Or are there performance compromises? Thanks Froggy |

I put a dab of J-B weld on mine -- those little plugs kept coming off. (Message edited by djohnk on July 18, 2012) |

It is just an emissions control device. Depending on where your bike was originally sold, may have the canister to capture fumes from the fuel vent hose rather than letting them vent to atmosphere. There is no performance hit for having it equipped, in fact if you have it equipped you won't smell any gas fumes on hot days.
