A week or two I stuck in a new O2 sensor and then the old Useless started running like crap again - bucking, surging, even stalling at lights after a 45 mile highway run at 75-85 MPH.
I went to Ace Hardware and got a 3/8" barbed T fitting from the plumbing dept
removed the airbox and snipped off a section of the PCV lines which I left in place in the airbox bottom plate
ran two 10mm Allens inside of the snipped off lines which are in the bottom plate
hooked up the T fitting to the PCV lines then and ran a length of oil line into an empty water bottle (with a hole punched into the top) which is underneath the passenger seat and
threw in new plugs while I was in there.
It runs perfect; I think that the motor was just choking on excess mung from the PCV valves.
I should have done this 60,000 miles ago.
I had everything but the T fitting lying around so total outlay was $1.58.
If yours is running poorly I'd try losing the EPA breather stuff.

Just remember, now your throttle plate and shaft are not going to get any lubricant. They're going to be hot, and dry.

Mine still runs fine with the stock breather setup, and it will continue to do so.

My S1, S2 and X1W have survived the hot, dry conditions so I'll go mung-free on the XB and see how it goes.
It already snapped the throttle shaft 30,000 miles ago so at least that's out of the way.

My '09 had 7 miles on it when the breather was rerouted. Now it has a little over 16k. I just had the airbox apart the other day to clean and re-oil the K&N filter. The butterfly valve looked clean, dry, and 100% intact.

In those 16k miles, I bet I've seen an ounce of white splooge drain from the catch can. 99% of what comes out is perfectly clear. For whatever reason, the XT doesn't puke nearly as much as my X1 did even after updating to XB rocker boxes.

The XBs have a reed valve to help control the breathing system. HarLee insisted on no reed valve for the Sportsters so that's why the new motor was delayed in using them for a few years.
I don't know how many miles Ratbuell has on his XB but this motor will turn 60,0000 miles this week so it's pumping out more oil mist than it used to.

your tubers get wet, at least the carbureted ones do (and so should EFI tubers, unless you re-routed that too...). It's called "fuel" in a carburetor.

I'm pushing 30k decidedly un-charitable miles on my XB.

All of my bikes now have the vent lines run into catch bottles.
Before the EPA got into the act bikes like my old 850 Guzzi LeMans had crankcase breather boxes which the crankcase and valve covers vented into and then the exit was to the atmosphere underneath the engine.
Run your lines however you want and enjoy your bikes.

"Run your lines however you want and enjoy your bikes." Yes of course. Both of my 06 and 2010 bikes run better with the breather mod. That is because they are no longer trying to burn oil/water vapour from the engine. The bike will run ok it justs runs better with it. Like the bike will run ok with 96 grade fuel but does run better with 98 grade fuel. You may call them "regular" and "super" gas?

Anyway changing the O2 sensor should have been ok and not done that.
