I was a big fan of the earlier generation Trophy with the triple (rode both the 900cc triple and the 1200cc 4 cyl and couldn't shake the feel and sound of that triple motor for years! Still remember it fondly!)

Looks like the new Trophy will be triple only:

The design isn't bad, per se, but it isn't awe-inspiring, inspired or even, dare I say, luke warm. It does sorta mimic the BMW in the schnoz.

I agree Jake. I loved the old Trophy. They did try to aim this one towards the long distance crowd though with a few creature comforts like cruise, cell phone, mp3 plugs ect....

It looks like, with the success of the C14, anyone coming to the game that isn't specifically targeting the $$ demographic of the big BMW sport-rocket-low-earth-orbit-tourer will have their work cut out for them in the sub $20k category.

If anyone can do it, Triumph seems the most prepared for the task. Every segment they walk in to, they do reasonably well in, it seems. Still, a near 50% displacement "deficiency" compared to the other primary targets in that segment (Kawi and BMW) may be a tough deficit to sell.

I wonder how long before the Honda ST/Pan-Euro or Yamaha FJR undergo revisions...

(This Trophy may be the epitome of the Egan article re: character that becomes difficult to ignore, especially in a segment that can have the mechanical seductive prowess of a Singer sewing machine.)

I've always liked Triumphs - but here we have another case of some ghastly euro styling - sure to cause train wrecks.

I saw a new adventure in the flesh for the first time on vacation in SC. It was a nice looking bike... I'd be happy to own and ride one. I wouldn't be happy to pay for it though... I'd rather buy 3-5 Uly's instead...

That new fairing has a lot going on. Not sure if it's a lot of good or bad! I wish they'd go to belt drive or shaft. Doing chain maintenance on a touring bike is a pain and old school. If I want old school I'll put my 75 Trident back together!!

Ditto on the chain. Both of my Bonnies (old and new) give me enough chain pleasure. I don't want my long haulers to do the same.

I didn't know Triumph had gone to a shaft, that's good news!
