Here's the deal. I took my original replacement shaft that I made to my cousin who owned a shop with CNC equipment. He mass produced 148 shafts. They weren't perfect but they were 95 percent finished. I take them and modify them to fit all years and clean up some minor deficiency's. I paid $67.00 a piece for the shafts. My output was $9916.00. I sell for $75.00 including shipping. Between packaging and some lost interest on my investment I'm breaking even. Since then my cousin has retired and sold his equipment. I no longer have a way to produce more. I have sold 34 so far. When they're gone that's it. I modify a hand full and when they're almost gone I grab some more. I probably have 20 or so ready to go. If they sell out I'll modify some more but that takes time but that's ok, I'd like to get my investment back so if you want or need one then let me know.

Tootal- PM sent, Count me in... I'll take the shaft . Thanks for taking the time to explain the investment of time and money you have into this part. I may never need it, but the peace of mind knowing that I have it and will not have to be broken down at the roadside or have to pay HD big $$$ for a complete throttle body gives me some peace of mind.

Teeps, I have the blueprint but not the CNC program. The CNC basically put the slot in the shaft using a slitting saw. If there's a next time I would use either water jet or edm. They are more expensive but would have given a better finish. I put a blueprint, well a drawing anyway, of it on here. If you want it I'll send it as soon as I sell all my shafts!!

I have a drawing on yellow blue line note pad, if that's what you're talking about.
And a change of dimension text.

I was hoping for a "plug&play" CNC program that did the whole process.

What he had probably went with the machinery he sold. So there isn't any CNC program for it. If I were to sell out and there was still a demand then I'd see if there was anybody else out there who could do it but the price would increase I'm sure!

Tootal, are you still coming thru Colorado in August? If so, pack one your 06 shafts and I'll make a point of tracking you down when your in our area and tip one back with you, maybe even tip back one of my homebrews! If it doesn't happen, I'll have you ship one to me latter.

I replaced the old throttle shaft with a new one from Tootal yesterday. My motor is in pieces so I thought it was a good time to upgrade. The only problem I had was, not realizing that the old plate screws are split with a punch, getting the old plate screws out. I should of taken off the cable plate, and spring, first, then rotated the shaft to see the back of the screws. I wound up rounding the allen heads out, DUH, so I drilled the screws out from the back. I damaged the old shaft, by drilling out the screws, but I should never need it again. No big deal. The new one is of great strength and quality. I used blue loc-tite on the new screws, but did not get to punch the backs of the screw to really lock them in. I could not hold everything and hit the punch with a hammer. I may try to have someone help hold the whole thing while I hit it. I did use a long drift to back up the screws so I don`t bend the shaft. Thanks Tootal! Great job! One less thing I have to worry about with my `06.

My motor is in pieces so I thought it was a good time to upgrade.

I'm at 85K now with my '06 and preparing to tear into it due to leaking head gaskets and what I've been told sounds like a bad lifter. Got one of Tootal's shafts last week (thanks again Tootal!) and I'll be doing the same R&R on the throttle body.

I'm leery of impacting the bottoms of the screws since I tend to a little bit of overkill and I'd hate to tweak Tootal's handywork and screw up my throttle body. Since it doesn't take much deformation to hold the screw in place I think I'll drill a shallow hole in each at the ends and visegrip them, and use red Loctite. Worked for me on my '72 VW bus's carbs and other applications in the past.

As long as the screw is backed up you won't bend the shaft. I've done this when experimenting with Harley carbs as they are similar. Never had any problem although I will admit they are a little easier to back up! The drill and crush method should work too. I think Harley drills the hole and smacks it with a chisel to split it. Whatever works!

Drilling a small, 1/16th inch, hole in the ends of the screws was the way to go. Thanks Xb, good suggestion.
I then backed up the shaft with round, flat tipped drift, and lightly used a sharp chisel to flair the screw ends. Worked great.
Thanks all! Now, if that crankshaft ever comes in.....

Xbimmer, thats a great idea drilling a hole in the end of the screws, I wish I would have thought of that before I installed mine.

I used Tootals method, but was a little timid about smacking the punch with a hammer hard enough to deform the screws , even with backup.
Good thing I had also applied Locktite and tightened the screws pretty hard, so I left it at that (not sure if I sufficiently deformed the screws or not).
I have been checking every time I have the air filter off ... so far so good.
Anyway, its been at least six months of almost daily driving with no problems so far.

Well, I need one of these asap because mine just broke, and I was planning on starting an epic ride with my father tomorrow, but looks like I won't be going unless I get this fixed. I guess its better that it broke here versus miles from home. So frustrating : (

Do you think it is possible to replace this in-situ with the throttle body on the bike? I did manage to get the broken one out, and it was a clean break, so no parts into the engine!
I feel like a tool, since I knew this could be an issue, but was hoping it would last until after my trip. It broke after I had put on a new TPS sensor, and performed a TPS reset. I guess the repeated slamming of the butterfly caused it to fail because I had been riding the bike before with no issues.
