Bit over 8k miles & unaware if drained before - I've put lil over 3k on the bike...

I would suggest cleaning the magnet with paper towel, and changing the tranny juice every 5000 miles.
I think the manual says to change it every 10000 or something.
Perhaps previous owner didn't change it out at the 1000 mile service?

In other words, if no big chunks, you're most likely good to go.
After it's broken in, there will be a reduction in the volume of fuzz.

The first round in these gear boxes always seem to have shavings on the magnet. Not a big deal. All of mine have shown the same thing, then nothing there after.

Now if it happens the next trans change I would be concerned a bit.
