I'm thinking about putting an extra helmet lock on the right side of my uly. Looks like it'll work, can't see any reason why it wouldn't. However, when ordering this part, how does one tell HD what key you have so it will match my other helmet lock and ignition? Has anyone ever had any experience when ordering extra locks or such from HD? Can they even match the key code if I could find it?? I talked to my parts guru(Al Lighton) and he wasn't sure either. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

The locks are Italian made and used on other bikes. I have never seen this asked before. The problem is that you would need the have new tumblers cut from a new un-cut set to match your bikes set. I guess you could have it done but is sounds complicated and expensive. This could be the reason why many just put up with an "odd key" for a gas cap or other thing.

Why not just use a steel wire loop so you can use two helmets on the one lock? Easy, cheap and just as safe/secure.

If you provide your VIN when ordering a key or lock, it will match your existing setup.

Thank you Froggy! We suspected this, but had no confirmation until now.
Uly man, I've used cables and actually use them alot even for my jacket, along with the helmets. Just too much for that one lock to handle sometimes. A second one would be handy. Though they are spendy. About $60.
