Every bike has its own forum. I am a member at the Tiger forum, the Transalpine list, AdvRider... If I ever owned a bike, and if there was a dedicated forum for that bike, I joined it. And I've owned about 100 bikes in my life.

Those forums are all good. But you guys are different. There is something about BWB and the Big,Bad, and Dirty group that is special. I wish I could say why, but I know my experience here has been better than on any other board. You guys are responsive, encouraging, honest, helpful, and passionate. I think membership to this forum may be the best reason to own a Uly.

I love you, man,
bb

There is certainly civility in this forum, unlike so many others. On the cb radio in trucking there is a lot of cb rambos, they say things they would never say facing the man they are bad mouthing, hiding behind the microphone,or keyboard it's all the same, this is a fantastic forum, thanks to the posters and the mods.

This has alway been a open, straight forward, and helpful site. New members are encouraged to treat others as they would face to face, so the online posers tend to filter themselves out pretty quickly. I've always gotten great advice and help here and have tried to pay back the same.

Uly riders especially seem to be carrying on the torch that started with the earlier generation bikes. Keep it up guys!

We do our best.
One of my buddies rode a Buell for the first time last year and started laughing about Harley: "How dare you try and make something good out of our product?!"
My 2006 should hit 60,000 miles by the fourth of July - it's been a good bike.

Badweb is unique about online venues. I've been doing the "Buell online" thing for the entire life of Badweb and a couple of the online venues going back to 1994.

I participate in a couple online (F-150, Focus and Porsche) forums and Badweb is like no other in terms of the sense of community.

I also think . . . although confess I've little personal basis for comparison . . that the folks on Badweb treat each other with an elevated level of civility (hey, we all slip from time to time . . me included) partially because there is a really good chance you'll get to continue many conversations in person.

Over the years, I've accumulated the contact info for roughly 4,500 Buell owners I've met . . . my wedding included Badwebbers from around the world and we had a Christmas party in NYC once that included Badwebbers from 5 countries. It continues to amaze me and is in marked contrast to when Phil, Don and I started the first Buell Owners Club and there were less than 25 Buell owners in the world.

Welcome aboard and we are thrilled to have you here.

Court

>>>This one?

Indeed.

I always kind of laughed when some of the HD folks got pissy about the use of the "Buell Owners Club" stuff and the use of the name.

We'd filed the papers with the Kansas Secretary of State over 5 years before Harley-Davidson arrived on the scene.

Interesting side note . . . . I'd heard that Dr. Don Chase had passed away. He was a surgeon and a typical "early Buell owner" . . guy claimed to only sleep 2 hours a night and was involved in everything and REALLY involved. He loved the Buells and the whole Buell way of thinking.

Phil Wolfe was my partner in a race car and one of the band of local insurgents who got together and rail roared the project that became Heartland Park Topeka. Phil and I shared a suite at the track for the first 3 years it was open.

Well . . about 3 years ago . . . someone send me a link to an RS-1200 for sake on e-Bay. I look at it and immediately recognize it as Don's. I write the guy, tell him the story about Don and ask how Don died.

I get a letter back . . ."Court, it's Don and I'm apparently in much better health than you think".

That's why everybody's so polite on this forum. If you weren't polite then Court wouldn't talk to you and if Court doesn't talk to you, then you miss all the great stories!!

Court is a Tease he starts a great story then says remind me to tell you sometime. We had a interagation trailer at Daytona but we were too busy with bike issues we couldnt trap him .

One day we will make him tell all the stories. Erik said he is just going to do another book and make us pay to get the story!

While I do respect this forum it should be noted that they "filter out" many things. Some of it, of course, needs to be but others would not?

I am sure I am not the first to see this.

As one of the ones who does the occasional filtering, we only filter out things that violate the rules like profanity and spam.

There have been a couple egregious violations lately . . one recently that about a "tent packer". To the credit of the Admins, it was handled prompt and professionally.

Since the day Badweb started I think I may have helped shape some of the tone. My personal guidelines have always been "If I wouldn't leave it on the table for my 8 year old to read or leave it on the table in the lobby of my office . . take it some place else".

It's worked well and . . . as others have come and gone . . . Badweb, thank's to a lot of hard work from the Custodians, , thrives and is considered the ONE single source of solid Buell information.

Though ups and downs . . and my very own fits of iffy behavior . . I've always been proud of Badweb.

I wonder if Chicago Harley-Davidson is still considered profanity...

I think this is a great forum. I am or have been a member of many, though I never developed a sense of community with the others including ADV. I read, get tips, collect notes, etc., but that is about it. Though I have only met a couple of people from this forum and don't participate nearly as much as others, it feels like checking in with friends each time I fire the site up. Even if I get rid of my Buell someday and move on to something else, BB&D will still likely be a prime resource for general technical advice, and I am sure I will just feel the urge to check in every now and then. I will forever leave my contact info on BRAN and go to the assistance of any rider that calls if I am able to.

I don't frequent the other sections of this forum so don't really have an opinion on those, but BB&D is the best forum I've ever been a part of (regardless of subject matter) with an excellent sense of purpose, maturity and community. I hope it keeps on going. All of you, members, founders and custodians should be proud of what you have built here. It really stands out from everything else.

Adventure Rider used to be different. I made several friends over there, but that was 8 years ago. Now people post snarky quips for no good reason. And I think the place is to big to effectively police.

But I am still confused. Who started the forum? Court? Steveford? Whoever it is, thanks for what you have done.

In my humble opinion this site, and I have been to them all, is the best for the Uly.

I think that is because there is a good core of people who know there subject and have a passion for bikes rather than just a brand. Those, to me anyway, are what I call Motorcyclists.

I have always found it a sad situation that ANYONE should not respect that which another rides. Not good or right.
