I just picked up a '09 Uly and have a noobie question. I'm looking to swap out the stock muffler for a Jardine or something similar. My question; there's a cable with some kind of attachment on the stocker. What do I do with remaining linkage since there doesn't seem to be any place to attach the cable? You can remove the cable and the servo completely. But you will have to turn the interactive exhaust off in the ECM with ECM Spy. Failure to do so will result in a MIL staying on. Or You can remove the cable from the servo and just leave it in place. (I did that for over a year on my bike; but switched back to the stock muffler, so was glad it was all there and just needed to be connected.) | ||

Enjoy the bike Timan. I love mine. The cable is for the exhaust actuator & if your new muf doesn't need it you can either yank the whole thing out & unbolt the actuator on top of your air box or you could just leave the cable in place and zip tie it off. You could probably sell the actuator out here if you don't need it as they seem to crap out often ... mine did. That is what prompted me to get a better muf that didn't need it. The one thing I don't know is if you will get a CEL once the actuator is no longer connected. That was my 1st indication that my actuator had failed. I put in an E.B.R. race ECM & besides the other benefits it also didn't look for the actuator so no check engine light. You can find a lot more info if you do some searches out here on exhaust actuator. | ||

So exhaust actuator is what I should have been searching for. I had done several searches and had not found the answer. | ||

you can also buy a do-dad from American Sport Bike that plugs into the actuator's connector to the wire harness that will spoof the ECM into thinking the actuator is still there. It's like $45. However, I have an extra one now that I bought the EBR ECM. PM me if you want to work out a deal. I'm looking for one of those Feihling top racks that you can buy at twisted throttle........ |
