So when I got the bike last week the idle was low, around 700 RPM. It was hard to start and stalled. I set the idle to a touch over 1000, but now it just randomly idles at 2000 once it's warm. Any thoughts on what I should check? I have no idea when the TPS was reset last, and I'll do that once I get my USB cable, but could the TPS cause that? It's very random, sometimes it's normal, sometimes it's high, there doesn't seem to be anything triggering it. I lubed the throttle cables and made sure it was adjusted correctly, but aside from that, being new to Buells, I'm not sure what else I should look at.

You have to adjust the idle speed once the engine is warm.
Remember that bikes older than 2008 have no ability to change their own idle speed.

You have a 2006 Uly that has an idle adjustment screw on the left side of the frame where the wire bundle goes under the front of the fuel tank.

With the bike fully warmed up the idle speed should be set at 1050. However, some of them like to be set a little lower. When the idle is above 1050 it will tend to hang at about 2000 for a few seconds then slowly come back down.

On my '06 it idles best at 950 to 1000.

When you get the idle set, if all is well the TPS will not need to be set for this reason.

The battery is only a month old, and the idle was set with the engine hot. It is probably idling around 1100 and the last post sounds just like my issue, so I will try adjusting the idle a little lower.

Don't do anything until you clean ALL of the grounds, expecially the ground under the air box.
You need to have a good connection between the engine and the frame.
I know it is a PIA to get to but it has to be done before you do anything else.
Good luck!

Your idle is set a tad too high, after it warms up, reduce it a tick

I would take off the air box, use an old toothbrush, put a little carb cleaner on it and clean the T/b. This usually happens when a new battery is installed and the ecu has to "learn" the settings. Usually the carbon on the throttle body to plate is enough to jam it slightly and raise the idle. We used to have to do this at the dealership all the time when the battery was disconnected on the cars. Usually fixed it. Just don't go crazy with the carb cleaner unless you want to replace expensive parts, it'll ruin them.

I warmed the bike up and reduced the idle to just a touch under 1000, according to the tach. Problem seems to be fixed.
