My 2010 Prius came with this installed from the previous owner and I never used it. I pulled it out this morning and everything is there for somebody else to use it. Thought somebody here might want to use it on their bike or car. It is the Sirius SV2 and it is absolutely complete with nothing missing. It all looks brand new since I never used it and the car only had 24,000 miles on it when I bought it and only about 29,000 miles now. This is it.

If interested then make an offer and don't worry about offending me on what you are willing to give. I figure it is worth something to someone and only worth what it is worth.
If no one is interested here then I suppose I'll get rid of it on Craigslist.

EG I respect you, for insight with the Uly and other stuff, but am interested to know what makes you think this would be of any use on a bike.

And why would it NOT be for use on a bike?

Ulyman,
I believe some folks actually use satellite radio on their bikes. I for one do not like the thought of paying for radio when I can get it for free, but if you are a long haul trucker, or Iron Butt kind of rider then radio stations only work for a while and then you have to adjust the station when the one you listen fades out because of distance. Satellite radio is not hindered by this dilemma. 20 bucks to the first taker and that includes shipping except to out of the U.S. London is too far for that price. The disc shaped magnetic antenna actually has 20 ft of wire because it is meant for a car. It's also has a cigarette type male plug that would push right into the ULY female power plugins to provide the power. 20 bucks buys it and that includes shipping except to out of the U.S. England is too far for that price. I have no need for it and one of you ULY folks might. I think they are about 60 bucks brand new and this one looks brand new.

Love the hell out of my Sirius receiver on my Uly. Ride for miles and miles across states without losing signal.

EG, if I didn't already have two units, I'd jump on the $20 price tag.

A simple RAM mount and a little wiring and that unit would be perfect on the bars.

Its an obvious fit, even when some don't see the obviousness of it...

Jake,
What does a Sirius monthly subscription cost and do they want a year in advance or is it month to month ordeal? I only ask for those interest in buying this thing. Oh yeah, and for those thinking about buying it for the paltry 20 dollar price that even covers shipping, please don't ask if I take PayPal because I don't. Paypal probably would want a large cut and that ain't going to happen.

"And why would it NOT be for use on a bike?" It would be. It just looked like a "in dash unit" which might be a problem on most bikes. It could be it is not waterproof either but I guess you could overcome that one.

This sort of unit is another "add on" to a bike if you want it but how about this? Given all the info a bike needs to show you IE fuel, speed, revs, many other things and you may want Sat Nav, rider intercom, radio, MP3 etc why has a bike maker not made a display that has all of it on one unit even as an option if you want to pay for it because some would. You could have a rear vision camera or even a night vision one like some Merc cars do. And if you really wanted to go for it you could have a helmet HUD system. You can get them for scuba diving so I see no reason that it would not work on a bike.

I will take that unit off your hands and by postage included does that mean you will deliver it by Uly to Columbus, NE?

Buellhusker,
It is already spoken for by email early this morning by a guy from Kalamazoo, Michigan. His BadWeb persona and name is Milo and he apparently runs a machine shop and rides an orange 06' ULY. He said he'd take it and he is the reason I brought up the PayPal thing. If Milo falls through then you are next in line.

Too much these days, I don't subscribe anymore, they are like the cable companies and keep raising the price while cutting quality and selection. There is a lifetime option, where you plop down a couple hundred, and it is worth it for the long haul, but I can't recommend it anymore as I don't feel the service is worth even free anymore.

10 years ago, back before XM was bought out, XM was the best thing since sliced bread, the merger just ruined both services. I use Pandora now, only downside is that it requires a data connection so it doesn't work when I venture into the middle of nowhere, but they have literally everything you can think of, including video game music and chiptune. Best part is that they have a free account that has very limited advertisements. Only two or so 30 second commercials an hour, vs FM with their 30 minutes of commercials for 3 minutes of music. I love how you can vote up/down on songs you like and hate, so you will never hear something you don't like again. Try that with FM or Siri-ass.

The motorcycle is really the only reason I still subscribe to XM. I get tired of just music on long rides - I like some sports and talk as well.

EG,

I worked for a professional sports agency for 10 years who broadcasts on XM and got a preferred subscriber rate because of this (I don't actually know what it costs to subscribe to XM Sirius at this point). After I left, I didn't bother to update my account and, apparently, neither did my former employer, so the receivers keeps receiving. If I had to pay the rate they charge, I'd probably turn it off.

I did buy an HD radio unit made by JVC that I can hot swap my Sirius XM receiver with for when I want to listed to local stations in HD. That's been pretty nice actually since my morning weekend ridesand occassional commute can still include a little local NPR or NPR Weekend Edition and some other shows I like. The HD stuff is free, the reciver is small and the signal is good around me.

Like Froggy, I have become an avid Pandora consumer and, at only $30 a year for their premium membership, that's tough to beat. Well, actually, considering XM Sirius still charges more than that AND advertises about a gajillion times more than the free Pandora, the free Pandora is still a tough price to beat.

The JVC HD unit, in case some were wondering:

They can be had for around $40 on Amazon

Remember when everybody watched t.v. and it didn't cost once you purchased the set except for the energy to operate it. Times have changed and mostly not for the better.

I like listening to NPR and music stations that play songs from the times I was growing up. Today's autotuned crapola is an affront to civilization and can't hold a candle to the likes of Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, Elvis and so on.

XM is great! We really enjoy it. We can always get great sounds and programing. Yeah the 60's were good but many things are better today and we're enjoying them! As a professor in an undergrad class once said, "live in the future, not in the past". Great advice to live by in my book. Crapola? You want to talk crapola that's NPR in my book.

Being as you are a texan, I'm sure that limp paw is what you tune your XM to. Just guessing though. To each their own in my book. But really, the earth is not flat and is over 6,000 year old.

I'd love to see our tax dollars stop flowing to 'government' radio, or NPR. Let them compete and they'd be gone quickly. Real quality there! lol Get a grip, glider, your goofy attempts at slights are off base and childish.

Electraglider is just stuck in the past, thats all! : D

All of his complaints are the exact same things everyone has been saying for the last 800 billion years, just the names of the bands change, and the medium used changes. I see it happening to myself a little, and I'm only 26.

Froggy,
Got you by 30 years. Way different era that I grew up in. Just like you wrote, you'll take issue with whatever is going on during the time you are my age. Not guaranteed but very probable.

Buellerxt, Your last comments got me thinking that I hit the nail right on the head.

What's your point, glider? Wrong? Not wrong? On what, your very childish attempt to slight because someone disagreed with one of your typical rants, 'my way is best', yadda, yadda, yadda's? LOL Like I said, 'childish'. Can't stand someone not agreeing with one of your rants? Someone not agreeing with you? You feel a need for a childish attempt to slight and then stay with it?! You're boorish, Man. Get a grip and try to enjoy life without ranting.

I hate having this childish garbage on Badweb but if you can't stand someone responding to one of your opinionated posts with a different opinion, without resorting to your childish games, you need to be told how boorishly you come across.

Froggy,

26! Wow, I knew you were young but, WOW! Hey, I'm impressed given how much you contribute to BadWeb, and have for years, and besides, you get several passes on 'it happening to you a little' after putting out that great Uly oil change tutorial! : ) Keep looking to, and living in, the present and future! : ) It suits you well. : )
