About 40 miles from home, rode 15 after it broke. Can I ride with it like this?

Rubber motor mount under neck has separated, noticed intemittant harsh vibes for 15 miles.

If you can stand it you can ride it. You won't break it any worse than it is.

That reminds me...I really should order one of them just to have around...

Well I called Al at American Sport Bike and he said he wouldn't... I called triple A only to find out I don't have the motorcycle option on my account and they won't cover it.

I said f-it and rode home. Didn't seem to do any harm but I'm tearing into it this weekend for maintenance and will switch it out then.

Doing Clutch cable, fork oil, front isolator, engine/trans oil and filter, fan, and got a new belt I think I am going to install and use the current as a spare.

Should be fun!

Mine broke a few years ago just after the start of a 2300 mile tour. Besides rattling the instrument cluster (shimmed it with folded paper to stop the worst of it) like hell at lower rpm's it didn't cause any more problems.

Fixed it after the ride.

I'm going on a 2500 mile trip end of June... I guess it's a good thing it happened now... will replace it, won't worry about it, and now I know that my AAA wouldn't have covered me if I broke down on that trip but now I've upgraded so I should be fine : ).

Two good things I guess.

AMA membership can get you roadside assistance.
I would suggest getting that before heading out on your mission.

I second the AMA. It's cheap (35-ish for a year) and covers your bike and cars. My wife and I both carry cards.

Are there warning signs if the isolated is failing? I'm concerned about mine

AMA is definitely better than nothing but it only covers a 35 mile tow, or something like that. AAA Plus gives multiple 100 mile tow's and one 200 mile tow per year, or again, something like that. I carry both. : )

I just upgraded AAA to include motorcycles.

And Jason... I really didn't notice anything... I have read some people notice more vibes then it goes... this thing shakes so much it has to be fairly serious for me to notice... the isolator failing was serious enough and noticeable enough to know it wasn't a normal vibe.
