I replaced the stock 08 muffler with a Drummer today after bending the faring brackets back (thanks UPS). EBR ecm and Kn.
The fan logic is very different. runs thru town and not on shutdown. I timed the stock fan setup at 5 min after shutdown. I am guessing the on time while riding negates the need for long off run. Also the idle hangs a bit but I am much happier riding a bike I can hear and not watching the tach for shift points.
Cool day today but I hope the fan does come on at shutdown when needed.

BayBueller-

I have the EXACT setup on mine and am very happy with the result. The Drummer turned out to be a bit too loud for everyday use, so I bought the dB Killer insert. Bike runs well and is more reasonable on sound for everyday use.

Martin, the DB killer may be in the future. If you go to ASBN let me know so I can check out your bike.
Ran the commute today and at 80 deg. the fan did not come on at shutdown. I don't miss the noise but like the idea of a heat purge.
Has your fan ever come on at shutdown?

Cool day today but I hope the fan does come on at shutdown when needed." It should do but if it worrys you any just let the bike sit at idle. The fan will come on but if not you have a fault. Monitor the oil temp with ECM-SPY if you have it. Comes on at 220 if I remember right. My 2010 bike does not come on at stop most of the time but its no running like a furnace like the 06 bike did.

The fan running has nothing to do with logic. Logic is the science of reasoning. Computers can not reason something out. The ECM works things out via data from sensors. If the ECM was able to "reason" something out it would know, as we would, that a sensor input of say 500F from the air probe may not be quite right. Its the reason for much of the strange running problems with this type of system. Am I making any sense here with this.

Hanging idle try a TPS reset.

TPS reset on an '08 (and up) is just a soft sequence & is recommended with an ECM swap. I had high idle issues with mine ECM, but after working on some new grounds and taking power out of the system a few times, the bike seems to idle and run better.

As for the fan, I can hear it running more when I ride and less when I park the bike. Previous to the ECM swap, it was the opposite. I never heard the fan while the bike was running, but when I shut it down, it would run anywhere from 10 sec to 2 minutes. Made for a conversation starter, no doubt.

Oh and Kevin over at KDFab recommended I have a 1/4' hole drilled in the center of my dB Killer to open it up a bit.

I'm going to try that, but not after I get some good sound bites of the system, as is.

Still on the DL, and unable to ride. : (
