I have a friend that has a XB9 Lightning 2007

I was wondering if his ECM can be reflashed (using ecm-spy)with a race eprom, as for as i can recall 2004 and 2005 were no problem but on 2006 and 2007 i'm not sure.

No to eprom.

Only ignition and fuel maps can be installed.

Because the embedded programming always seeks to fuel at 14.7:1 there is not much gained (from my seat of pants dyno) to make it worth burning the ig and fuel maps.

Your mileage and result may vary...

Teeps. You may know about this and have a few ideas.

Before I bought my 06 bike, in 07, I did some basic research about the bike. Later on I came across the 3k flat spot problem through sites like this one and some guys who built ECM-SPY to try fix this and other things like engine/can mods.

The general opinion was (even from some dealers) that this was "the nature of the bike" which seemed very odd to me as
A) why would anyone market a bike that run that way and B) my bike run fine with no flat spots or anything else wrong apart from the Grounding issues which was a build fault and a easy fix. My 2010 bike also has no flat spots. Yes lucky Me.

Ok so there have been cracked ECMs and sensor replacements that have been needed but things do/will wear and break.

Over the past five years I have read many posts on the subject of electrical/engine running problems/Gremlins with this bike.

Is it possible, in some cases, that the embedded programming or even the maps have become corrupted enough to effect the fueling and/or timing. Who knows what might cause this, if it has, but computers can be like that.

Its just a thought and a VERY subjective one at that but something just does not seem right some how. Not logical, Captain.

ECM-Spy can do all the bikes up to early 08's and even a stock piped bike can benefit from a good tune on the dyno. Have done a bunch. The 14.7-15.1 is only looked for in the Learned Fuel area and idle after warm up. So all the other rpm areas would benefit from a good tune. In the Learned Fuel areas we tune it to 14.7 and make sure it does not skew from there during running.

Does Ecm-Spy not support all Thuderstorm/Helicon engines to the very last 2010 HD ECM version of BUE3D?

I believe that the majority of fickle Uly drive-ability problems are caused because of cracked solder connections.
This was true of my '06 Ulysses.
