I am considering buying the EBR ECM for my Uly with a Drummer and open airbox. Just wondering if everyone is satisfied with it. Is it worth the $300?

Thanks in advance for the replies

Got the Race ECM originally for my Hawk muffler and loved it. Once I got the Drummer I sent it back to E.B.R. to get re-flashed correctly for the Drummer and love it again. Haven't gotten around to bolting up the open air box yet but I do recommend going with a better air filter than stock if you haven't already. I'm running the K&N and like it.

The EBR ECM makes a nice difference even with the stock exhaust. Runs stronger and eliminates the dip in the powerband.

My bike came with a Jardine and K&N filter and after 2 yrs I decided to spring for the ECM from E B R. It should be here any day. My bike has always run flawlessly so I was hesitant to fix something that's not broken. But with all this cracked ECM talk lately, I figured it wouldn't hurt to have a spare under the seat. If something flakey starts happening I can switch ECMs around see if it goes away. Though my OEM ECM has been fixed up not to be in contact with the seat, there was 6000 miles before I got it that it was in its original configuration. Who knows when these problems decide to show their ugly face. I want to be ready. Plus I wouldn't mind getting rid of that popping on deceleration. Don't like that at all either.

Only issue I have with the EBR ecm is that the high idle at initial start up takes forever to fall back to normal idle, even if the bike is already warmed up it still takes forever to fall back to normal idle. Not a big deal, but when bike is already warm and you just want to leave and have to wait a minute for fast idle to go, or just slip the clutch for a while, is annoying.

Tried throttle reset but did not change anything. Tried letting it idle for 15 min. No luck thought maybe was just part of programming.

EBR ecm did fix dangerous off idle stumble in hot weather though, which is priceless.

Anybody else experience this?

I have to say, it was the best thing I did for the bike. The lean stumble (which translated into a sort of delayed response from the throttle) and quirky surging at cruise speeds is gone. Seat of the pants says it's quicker, mostly because there is no longer a delay between throttle application and acceleration. Just remember to tell them exactly what configuration you're using when you order the ECM.

06, stock exhaust, K&N, homemade open airbox, always run with Journey bags and 52L Journey topcase, generally overloaded.

Smooth, fast, consistent. Fan map tweaked for MORE runtime, as close as they could get to a DDFI-III "comfort kit" fan map. Engine stays cool and I can't hear the fan over the Scala G4 with bluetooth music. Win-win.

And I save miles on the front tire : )

ZERO complaints.

Joe- EBR does not offer a race ECM for stock exhaust for 06. Which tuning did you get for the stock exhaust that you are running?

Well guys, from the looks of it, we may be joining the ebr ecm club soon as it appears the XT's ecm has a crack in it.

Greg has temporarily swapped the X ECM with the XT and is test running it now to see if that was the issue causing problems mentioned in my XT under the weather thread. Fingers crossed, that would be a simple fix, and sounds like a welcome improvement.

OK, so dumb ?.

When we get EBR ECM, can we use ECM spy? Limitations?

Sorry for naive question, but what is difference between
EBR Racing ECM, and do you get the hard-coded one one or re-mapable one?
and
ECM Spy?

Hey Belinda. I hope you can use ECM spy cause they recommend a TPS reset after you install your new ECM. I'll let one of the other more experts here comment, but I'm pretty sure you can't reprogram things like you could with the OEM ECM.
This gets to your question Jeepnh. EBR sells two flavors of ECMs. One that you can reprogram and tweak all the settings in the map and one that you can't. The first is more expensive, and you need their pc cable/software for. I'd say it's mainly for race track usage - unless you're really into it and have money to burn! The second one is flashed with a well tested code that works with your certain bike/exhaust/air filter configuration. You can't change anything with this one.
BTW, anyone have an ECM Spy cable they want to sell me??

Ishai - I emailed EBR, told them what I had, and sent them my old P&A "for race only" ECM for a reflash.

Think for a moment.

What is bike # 100,000?

Who owns and rides it regularly?

I figured they had a good map for a stock '06 Uly...and hoo-boy, was I right : )

I emailed them , asked what ecm to use with stock exhaust for a 2006 Uly and they replied that no such ECM is available... so if I understand you corectly I could send them a "Race Only " p&a ECM to be reflashed for the set-up I want? also, as I understood it you are not "supposed " to hook that ecm to ECMSpy, in which case How do you do tps reset?
Thanks
Ishai

09 XT here - 100% stock exhaust, K&N filter in an unmodified airbox.

The EBR ECM made the bike into what it should have been from the factory, if not for ridiculous EPA restrictions. I get the same fuel economy as before, the same power (if there was a change, It was too small for me to notice) but the bike is just SO much smoother. Never has a hiccup at any RPM, it starts quickly in any weather and warms up just as it should. The revised cold start enrichment programming is a stroke of genius. To me, it sounds like a bike with an automatic choke when it's started in cold weather. The old stock ECM never did like to start and warm up on it's own in very cold weather.

In short, the ratio of benefit to cost is exponentially higher on the EBR ECM than any other modification or farkle I've performed on my XT.
