hmmmm... I must say this lil farkel sure woke up the motor. Its loud! Not happy about that. I also got the db killer. Kevin said to take it out with the db killer out so I did so the ecm could learn and it romps, but its too loud for me like that. After a 10 mile loop I was wondering why I waist-ed all that money on this muffler. Put the killer back in and took her for another quick spin and am more pleased. picked up my tools and took a power nap then went for another ride. The db killer works, I think i can tour like this ,without it no. pulls better than stock with the killer in then flattens out above 5000rpms, but it seems faster. Don`t pull 3rd gear wheelies like my klx450 but its closer! the 3500rpm flatspot is gone and it works great between 2-4000rpm where i spend the bulk of my riding. My EBR race ecm is calibrated to the stock can so it may get better when I get over to EBR for a recalibration, so for now I`m mixed about the noise but happy with the ridabilty, and sound with the db killer installed.
The initial test ride was a hoot! She pulled hard past 110 but had to back er down as I forgot the wallet and that would have been totally awkward if I was observed at that time!

Barkbuster,

I too found my Drummer a bit too loud, so I opted for the DB killer. Definitely knocks the noise down to an acceptable level, but maybe a bit too much. Still I prefer the setup with the DB killer than without. (sounds too close to stock!)

My old M2 with the V&H SS2R had the perfect combo of deep, v-twin sound, without being obnoxious.

Guess I've just been spoiled!

Yup, the old V&H pipes really sounded nice without being too loud. I had a Drummer on the bike for a total of about 10 minutes, pulled it off, sold it. Way too loud, the droning in my helmet would've made me deaf in a short time. I've since found a Buell race pipe and it's......not too loud...not too quiet... it's just right.

Thanks for the review. I've been looking at the Drummer SS for a while now but am concerned the extra noise (even with the db killer) might get old on some of my long trips. Also, do anyone know if the Drummer SS muffler can still be used as a jack point?

I have the EBR ECM for the Drummer SS and when I put the DB killer in, it definately decreased my performance. Had a major flat spot!! Took the DB killer back out to recover my performance and just live with the loudness.

The EBR ECM for stock muffler with a Drummer SS and the DB killer may not have the negative performance hit, but may not be realizing the full potential of the Drummer SS

Hey All,

Since I too am a new, Drummer customer I asked about using the Drummer as a jack-point. Per Kevin, the Drummer is OK as a jack point, so long as you use the ends, and not in the center.

Most folks use a curved, wood-block to evenly distribute the load on the pipe.

I'm happy with mine.

I am more and more liking the drummer SS if nothing else just because it a very nice stainless muffler. I did the powder coat thing one year ago and it's not lasting... I hate that......
So what was the price if I can ask? Looked on the drummer site but did not see prices, guess I have to call if nothing else.

Do i HAVE to run the ebr ecm with the drummer? Mine is a 2010 XB12X

Thanks !

Drummer pipes are $400, plus shipping, which is $35. The Core Wrap (lifetime packing) is a $30 upgrade. He needs your pipe to do the modification, so you will need to send your stock can to him. Takes Kevin a little less than a week to do the work.

The Drummer Stainless is $650 and is a smaller pipe, that allows you to keep your stock pipe.

Either way, I recommend you order the dB killer with your pipe.

Happy Buelling!

Well after getting the spare wheel on I took it to work with the db killer in and kinda liking it. Makes good er better power than the stocker and sounds better. I`d say its snarls with killer in as opposed to it being open. sounds better to me from the seat, have to let ny friend take her out so I can hear it as I never heard one before I got it.I hope I can hang on to my license because I like winding her up a bit now!

I need to look into the ecm thing.
I really would like to know if I have to change to the EBR ECM or not with my 2010 Cal.

I'll make a decision after/when I sell my 2003 FJR
then i have a bit extra cash to doll-up the Uly.

I doubt you HAVE TO have the EBR ECM, but running a Drummer with the stock ECM will likely lean the bike out a fair bit. Plus, the Drummer setup eliminates the exhaust valve, so the low end response may suffer, until you have the Race ECM.

You should be running a Race ECM regardless of what muffler you have, it makes that much of a difference. You can always send it back to EBR to be recalibrated if you change mufflers.

Got a K&N filter in today along with a new front motor mount and new rear muffler clamps. Either I got used to it or it don`t feel any faster with the db killer in. The motor mount made a huge difference, though my old one wasn`t failed it was beginning to as the rubber was fatigue cracking top and bottom. You can sure here it sucking with this filter.Ready for Dragon V next week at Deals Gap. hope we get great weather !
