Well I finally found a uly top rack and cross brace (yes the side racks are already attached). I however, do not have the hardware that attaches it. So before I make my hardware run I have a question to those in the know. Can I reuse the fasteners that have to be removed to attach the crossbrace under the tailpiece or are new bolts called for? Right now there are phillips head bolts in place. Thanks in advance. Sharkbitten guy |

After reading the installation manual again it's looking like I'm going to replace the button head type screws with hexheads and belleville washers. |

Froggy posted this a while ago. Hope he doesn't mind if I repost the link. http://froggypwns.com/buellpdfs/Ulysses_side+topca se.pdf I haven't mounted my top rack yet but planned on using these instructions and the list of hardware. Barry |

Yo_barry, thanks. Those were the instructions I was looking at. I guess the hardware came with "the kit". Unfortunately I just got the rack and the crossbrace so I'll have to head over to the ace hardware and try and find the necessary nuts, bolts and washers. |

I recently went through this as the hardware that came with the SW motech rack was not sufficient. Here is a shopping list: (2) 5/16 -18 X 2 1/4" and (2) 1/4 - 20 X 2" I went to tractor supply and bought their grade 8 bolts and washers for less than $2.00. When I was at tractor supply they did not have the 2 ¼ length bolts, so I went with 2 ½ and shimmed them out ¼”. Make sure to blue loctite! |
