I've heard several names floated as purchasers for Ducati. AMG, Volkswagen, BMW even the Indian company Mahindra.

...even the Indian company Mahindra.
Yes, they'll be bringing new Ducatis to the U.S. in the back of their soon-to-be-available diesel pickups.

I thought only dogs and Harleys liked to ride in the back of pick-ups?

Yeah, but it's cruel to do it to either (even though they might prefer it).

Looks good to me. Tall cab, lots of headroom. The bed rails look funny to us but all those hooks are great in a country like India where loads are piled high and tied on. Small 4 cyl. diesel. Not big on HP but high on torque and MPG. It's what we're moving too...

The point of my post regarding Mahindra is that they started promising ~4 years ago that this truck would be available in the U.S. very soon and it's STILL not.

Their promised delivery drug on for ~3 years until they finally got EPA approval, at which point they announced that their agreement with the U.S. distributor (who'd set up something like 150 dealerships) was null and void. U.S. distributor sued and has since gone bankrupt, and there is no indication the trucks will be here anytime soon.

Despite being called a "small" truck, the things weigh over 4000 lbs and apparently the EPA fuel mileage was only ~24 MPG or so. Speculation is one they realized their main selling point (fuel mileage) was killed when they met EPA requirements, they gave up on importing them to the U.S.

Seems like a big CF all around. I damn sure hope Hero is a MUCH better company than Mahindra has proven to be.

the EPA is slowly squeezing the diesel to death anyway.
My 98 Jetta got 50 mph.
My 99 jetta (new model) gets 42mph (this is my current drive to work car).
we had a 2006 jetta that got a constant 36 mpg.
The new VW diesels are still doing around 36.
This is real world numbers with real people driving them.

My 2006 Dodge Cummins (last before EGR) gets 20mph. (this is my RV towing truck)

My friend also had one getting around the same, dodge bought his back because of electrical problems and gave him an 07 (new model Cummins engine). new truck got 12 to 14 mpg. he sold it and went back to gas.

Sure some guys are getting better, but they took the EPA stuff off to do it.

I can't see how burning 2 times the fuel to go the same distance is cleaner. The EPA has blinders on

>>> Buell to be relegated to redheaded stepson status once again?

Hero is sponsoring the EBR Superbike teams. EBR is providing Hero with engineering consultation. Hero does not own EBR.

Good grief!

My diesel 86 trooper gets 30. That is a 4x4. Takes forever to get somewhere though. That's ok.
