So, I've been having this frustrating problem of my throttle not snapping closed when at full right turn.

After replacing my cables, and experiencing the same thing, I've diagnosed the problem to be the protector on the steering stem that was an upgrade on my '06, but started coming stock on the '07.

I'm also running some additional wiring from the battery and need a place to put it, so I did some searching on here....

And I found this picture.

cable routing

When I bought my bike, both the wiring harness and throttle cables were routed through it, and damn it's a tight fit. So, did the PO do the upgrade and just shove everything in there when its suppose to be like this with the cables on the outside?

How do you have your cables routed?

I have the throttle cables on the outside of the shield also.

my cables are stuffed inside that protector along with the wires. Pretty sure it came that way from the dealer. But my cables bind like yours to when cranking the handle bars. I tried putting the cables outside the protector, but then they got pinched against the protector when cranking left. I also noticed if you play with the tightness of the throttle handle bar mounting screws or even the position of the handlebars, that can make a difference to. I've determined there just isn't enough room under the flyscreen and the cables get bunched up so to say. They need to be allowed to move more freely under there.
