Has anyone had an oil leak at the center of the cam cover? My '06 Uly has been sitting a while.....pretty much neglected this year. The oil is coming out where the cam sensor wires come down from the cover, and it is wet at the bottom of the round center cover.

This thing has never had an oil leak other than seeping from the clutch cable at the primary cover.

'spose it is pissed because I have not been riding it??

I pray a lot and hope not to get cancer or have the world fall out of my ass.

Get a grip E.

As a matter of factlyness I DO carry two tents when camping.

And I happen to like the "color" of it.

"Miami money pusher".....hmmm.....

I did not say it was a big problem. As a matter of fact I would not have posted it if there was anything much going on around here. I had never heard of anyone having this particular seal leak, so I thought I might ask if anyone had it happen to them.

If the World does fall out of your ass, that would explain a few things that I have not been able to clear up like the quality of the air, why mud puddles smell funny, and political campaigns!

...and maybe even British humor(?), possibly. Probably not.

That being said, mine also started leaking there last year. Same symptom, seeping down the harness and pooling up at the bottom of the timing plate behind the cover. I bought a new seal but seeing what was needed to replace it I decided to wait until top end time, which is now overdue at 81k but hey it still runs. And it quit leaking anyway all by itself.

Since I'll be buying an engine gasket kit the seal is yours if you want it Etennuly.

Thanks for the offer. I was wondering if it may stop leaking if I just start riding again. It is minor, but it seems like a lot to tear down to fix.

Thanks for the response.

British humor.....ahhh I now see the error of my reading that.....I was sober! If I have a few beers I am sure it will make sense!

It didn't make any sense to me (& I'm British!)

Hey Vern, just take the cover off and fill it full of kitty litter! That should keep it dry for a while! Man, you're right, this drinking beer makes you think of all kinds of good stuff!

Good thinking Greg. Although I do not want to remove the cover now, for if I did it would be easy to just change the seal.

How about I just drill a 1/2" hole above the problem seal, pour in the kitty litter, then put a plastic plug in the drilled hole. Then when I get a proper time for the replacement of the seal I will clean it out!

Beer.....what the hell.....it made Bud wiser!

Nah! Just been kinda busy in the shop for the first time in a while. Takes a week or two to get used to walking around the open thinner barrel combined with fiberglass resin fumes, cleaning solvents, and of course primer and paint fumes. I'll be back to normal soon!
