Check this out!

They're on the equator! Two are in the northern hemisphere, two are in the southern. Anybody know this Bueller? I have a fairly closed mind about the reach of Buell, so I was shocked to see one here!

I met the guy on the far right in Alaska. Absolutely awesome dude; sponsored by KTM, and has been traveling the world for well over a year now.

This shot is north of the Arctic Circle, his KTM Adventure is facing away from us on the far right:

I'll bet you would REALLY enjoy the story of the first time Buells (two of them, a mere 1 Meter apart . . one on one side and one on the other side of the Equator) crossed the Equator.

www.enlazandoamerica.com.ar

You can also read about it on starting on page 106 of 25 Years of Buell.

Absolutely amazing stuff . . .

Pardon me but are there any other openings for guys traveling around the world for over a year being sponsored by motorcycle manufacturers?

That makes the Buell rider the mighty one...no sponsor um...no manufacturer for that matter. Balls dude! Has a forum of some bent guys to help him stay in the addiction.

Sherri Jo (the woman on the left in the first photo) is all over ADV...a major adventure rider. She shows up in so many people' ride reports.

This is my 1st post. I'm English but live in sw Portugal. Next year I want to ride up through Europe and across Russia to Japan. I'd love to do this on my Ulysses, which has just over 17000 miles on it, K&N filter, stock exhaust, airbox mod, Free Spirits tensioner, grease nipple on needle bearing next to the output shaft. The bike has never let me down, other than a broken belt at 11,900 miles. If I set off with a new belt, new wheel, headstock and swingarm bearings and a new clutch cable what do you all think of my chances of getting there? Or would a more sensible option be a Yamaha XT660R?

Eulysses, this forum is the main reason I stuck with my Uly for this trip. If i had a mechanic for everytime someone asked me (with a pained expression) why I chose a Buell.........I'd be back on the road right now : )

Turf,
No problema, except that you might want to spring for the 2010 rear wheel and then not worry about carrying wheel bearings.

I would do it. I'm taking my XT on the Dempster and the Dalton this summer and if I can swing it, Mexico & Central America this fall/winter. Bring an extra belt... just in case. ; )

Very cool! I'm facebook friends with Petar, and this picture was posted on his wall.

Do you have a live ride report going on Advrider or here? If not, care to give us a quick summary of your trip? Where you came from, total miles, how long, destination, issues (both bike and boarder crossing etc).

South America is kind of my big huge out-of-reach dream, now that I've done Alaska.

I too would like to know of any issues you had on the trip. Electraglider, New wheel bearings to set off with. It's not that far. Ghostrider, New belt at start. Existing one under the seat as a spare. Spare regulator as well, but, most of all I'd be concerned about the sata. Maybe I,m getting off topic now but Kevineye, I really want to here your story. Did you suggest you were off the road right now?

Turf,
Bring a new spark plug, just in case. Tire plug kit and a means to put air in your tire. I've never had a breakdown whilst on a trip but it is always in the back of my mind that it can happen. It is always less stressful knowing you've done things before, like changing a belt, tps reset, changing spark plug, fixing broken grounds, etc. Don't traverse deep water if you can avoid it, otherwise you might be dealing with wheel bearings, 77 connector and the like.

Thanks, Electraglider. It would be fully sorted before leaving. Interesting to here Kevineye's potential wiring chaffing problem. Several wires on mine were rerouted at the last service. They looked like they were on the point of chaffing. I also had the main wiring loom protected by a plastic tube.

Forgot to say that if you're willing to do a massive trip on a BMW or a KTM, you should trust a Buell. Owned a GS 1100 (gearbox failure) and a 950 (clutch master cylinder.) The latter is an easy fix but only if you're carrying one. Electraglider, if you were to carry one part (other than spark plugs etc., what would it be? A stata?

I'd bring my wallet. The only stator I've ever replaced on a motorcycle was on a Honda 750F and that was only because the stator was actually taken off my bike while I was gone to class for only an hour. Thieves suck.
