Old lfx14 compared to new lfx21 installed but not strapped in yet.

Shorai customer service has been great. replaced old suggested 14 with the 18 for free or with the 21 for forty bucks, shipping free.
report of the 21 to come.

Shorai LFX21A6

Great Winter riding

The best I can tell the LFX21 as pictured is the exact dimensions as the original HD Battery.
I will report back if I have any problems. The day it sat out in 19 degrees it had warmed up a bit before starting. The 14 fit after using the foam inserts and started fine under normal weather conditions.
I also used thin sheets of the supplied foam on the 21 just to help with vibration. Not needed according to Shorai.
My original picture deleted itself so I am posted it again here.

Hope you guys have better luck with the Shorai than I did.

My '08 killed two of them - one shorted internally and melted on a lonely road in Mexico, and the other died deep in Panama (I returned to the US for business and received a return).

Both times I was riding for a long time in the heat, and I noticed excessive charge voltages from my voltmeter. Would seem that I had charging system problems, but both times I immediately swapped out a dead Shorai with a replacement lead unit sourced on the road, and didn't have any more problems.

I suspect that the internal circuitry of the batteries I had was fragile or susceptible to vibration.

Shorai was very professional about exchange, and when I sent them the second burn-out for R&D, they ultimately refunded my money.

Loved the idea instead of lead, but the double-expriece reinforced that adage" "If it aint' broke, don't (freakin') fix it."

Yea I read your post before buying. I use a bunch of lithium batteries for RC planes and helicopters and figured I would try it, maybe it is better since you purchased.
I’ll be the guinea pig and report back.

Timbobuell...simple! Just stay north of the border. Fewer holes in the road.

If I go that far south I'll just have one of these follow me with all the comforts of home.
