What is the noise (like a small electric motor/servo?) when you turn the key & kill switch to the run position. In another thread someone says the mufler valve actuator should operate when you cycle the key. Mine does not, but it seems to run fine.

That's the hyperdrive motivator. If you need to fix it, you'll need to order a hydrospanner.

It's your blinker fluid pump priming itself

So, I guess the muffler valve actuator does not operate when the key is cycled (as stated in another thread)? Can I order a hydrospanner thru a local dealership? Thanks for all the innput!!!?

I think if you want to test the muffler actuator, have the run switch on, turn the key on, and cycle the run switch off/on. I believe that will trigger the actuator.

For testing the actuator: kill switch "on", then turn key "on", but hold the throttle wide open when you turn the key on. Do NOT hit the start button!

IIRC, someone posted that if you were going to do this sort of test, that pulling the fuse for the fuel pump would keep your from re-priming the pump each time and reduce/remove the risk of fouling the plugs (or filling your cyls with gas).

Again, this is an IIRC moment at the end of a CRS week.

The injectors would not squirt any fuel until the starter was running, unless you have a leaking one then that's a different subject. The fuel just bypasses to tank, no problem.

Technically the injectors won't fire until the timing system tells it to, by way of crank rotation...

Besides that, according to the Buell techs, this same procedure for checking the actuator will also rapidly fire the plugs for a few seconds. Supposedly this will "clean" a mildly fouled plug. Didn't work for me when I needed it to, though.

Anti-foul is only on 08-up bikes, and I've had to run the process four or five times to get results (but it does work).
