"Buying my Uly" as the thread title incites.. well, tomorrow is my BIG day! I leave my beach home here in Warrenton, Oregon at 8am and venture south 700+mi to Reno, Nevada via Amtrak, to meetup with the owner of the "soon to be mine" 06' Barricade Orange Uly.. 6700mi, clean, stock, new tires, and not a scratch on it! we negotiated a fair price for all the extras that will come with it, my favorite being the full Happy trails aluminum pannier and rack setup with top box tail mount & plate!.. (& with the outdoorsman racks I just ordered, I'll be able to switch over to the juniors from my lightning for light duty, short hop, commuter setup). Once the deal is done and I'm on my way I'll be traveling to wherever the weather is best to ride, explore and relax for a week or so.. no schedules or itinery.. just wherever the Uly wants to go.. I havn't seen the Grand canyon or Hoover dam/lake Mead yet.. and then back to Oregon by way of the roads less traveled! Bags are packed, best camera at the ready,.. should be epic. Here I go.. 8am the adventure begins

That's great. I can suggest highway 4 in California just south of Reno. Takes you up over a pass. The road is very narrow and runs between the trees. Great on a bike. Once through the pass it widens yet remains a great road. Yosemite is just south from there.

Too bad, you could have bought my much nicer 2009 XT and I'm only 160 miles away.

Good luck with the new Uly Thumper.

Hey thanks everyone! yep', I'll be taking plenty of pics.. it's not quite spring yet so any landscape subject matter may be a bit, well, lets say bland.. but I'll try to get some Barricade Orange in the shots to brighten it up a bit! Good grief, I feel like a kid before christmas.. gotta' slow down & enjoy this, minute by minute,

Blackdog, I did see your bike and contemplated calling.. this 06' just had me wrapped-up with it's pampered history and extras now to be included..

Sounds like fun! Might be a bit warmer if you jumper over the Sierras to California. Post if you are around Monterey/San Jose/Santa Cruz so I can buy you a brew and get you to reciprocate!
