Really hoping fast a fast answer on this!!!

I am in a bike shop in equador getting my rear tire changed. The wheel is off, and 2 spacers dropped out when it was removed. One spacer is bigger than the other..... Which one goes where?

As the sheet above shows, there should only be one spacer, and it goes on the brake side. The outer dust seal runs on it. The sprocket side dust seal runs directly on the axle.

You sure the dust seal didn't fall off of one side or something?

Yea there is a spacer on the rotor side that often comes out easily, not sure what this other spacer you are referring to is from.

I may be a day late, as usual. Did you get this fixed? I am curious about the second spacer. Do you have any pics? As the guys said, should have only been one spacer that will fall out.

There is a second spacer on the belt side. I had the 2010 rear wheel installed 15,000km ago in palm springs. So, I didn't see the assembly. From what I can see everything is lined up correctly. I did comment when I picked up the bike that th axel appeared to be sticking out a tad more than it was pre 2010 wheel. The tech in the US owed a Buell previously and used the manual to do the work so I took it he did the job properly. Maybe he didn't. But I have done a lot of kms with no issues. It's kinda hard to check it out with out a stand. Unless I just lay it down.

The new PR3 is on and feels way better than the slick I created from the last one.

One spacer, brake side only. The step up in the axle does the job of the spacer on the belt side.

I suspect that there'd be no harm if one put the same spacer on the belt side, but as designed, it isn't supposed to be there and isn't necessary.

Al, I was thinking the same thing, and Kevinaye did mention that the axle stuck out a bit on the right side, which it would if a spacer were installed on that side too. What's odd is that he said one spacer is bigger than the other. Not sure how that could be. Thanks.

All, I know is there is 2 spacers and there's supposed to be 1. It doesn't seem to have caused any problems so far and it is not so easy for me to do anything about it right now .

Thanks for the quick replies. They really help on the road.

Right.
1- Axle
1- Bearing Spacer (Fits between L and R bearings)
3- Bearings
2- Seals
1- Small Spacer

If that long bearing spacer fell out when they removed the wheel, then he has major bearing issues and his trip would be over, at least until he gets parts. Since he is back on the road, we know that did not happen. I'm still curious.

Kevinaye, please post pics next time you pull the rear wheel. Thanks, have a good ride!
