Hey everyone, I have an oil leak coming from the rear cylinder rocker top that leaked onto the fan and killed the fan. I plan on replacing this soon. However there is a stretch of nice weather coming and I was wondering not using the fan in 50 degree weather cause any long term engine damage? Would be nice to commute to work (40 miles one way) and get a little bit of riding in. Thanks | ||

If you don't have to idle for extended periods of time you should be fine without the fan at those temps | ||

I had my fan quit on a 90+ day several hundred miles from home, the motor would ping a bit in stop and go traffic but seemed fine on the open road. | ||

You will be fine. As stated, do not idle for extended periods, keep it moving and all will be well. If you do see a flashing red light and it goes into run/skip mode you will know it is too hot. If that happens do not shut it off, get it up to speed, pull in the clutch and let it idle while at speed, to cool it down. | ||

Don't let it idle. That slows the oil pump, which is the closest thing you have to a cooling system / water pump. Move as much oil as you can, as quickly as you can, through the system (which includes an oil cooler). | ||
