Got a xm onyx and trying to mount it on the Uly. I set it in a bag for now but want to mount it in the open. Anyone use a waterproof box? Any photos would be great. | ||

Don't mean to hijack this thread, but I looked at the kit Pons linked to and it talks about needing an FM radio to connect to. Is there no way to get sound out of this without an FM radio? Is it possible to hook a bluetooth adapter or ear buds right into the unit? | ||

Go to Radio Shack and they have a connector with volume control that will plug into radio and you can plug head phones in to it. http://www.shopping.com/Radio-Shack-Gold-Plated-Vo lume-Control-Cable-for-Stereo-Headphones/info I had a J&M head set in the helmet but put in ear phones in for the Satellite radio. I just squelched the CB out so only close signals could be head It works really well. Dynasport I use a scala bluetooth headset in helmet with mike boom. Set it to a unused fm radio station and go. When you plug into the xm radio onyx with a set of earbudds the sound is too low. Before the bluetooth I used a cheep $20 walkman with a set of earbudds. That set up worked good once you get used to the wires. | ||

I ordered the Scala G4 a few days ago. They are really being discounted now because Scala is coming out with an updated version called the G9. I figured the G4 would be fine for me. I am going to see how I like listening to music through my iPhones bluetooth first before I invest in the XM. I have XM in my wife's car and do like it, but I find I can get most of what I want through apps on my iPhone. Thanks for the tip about the Onyx and the Scala though, that is really good to know. | ||

Anyone else want to buy something at a big discount... wait till I buy it then they will drop the price for sure. I am happy with the scala so far. The fm is not the best but good enough for my xm and some close stations around DC. Crutchfield sells open box stuff in Charlottesville VA cheap. I got my xm there for $30. Hard wire kit on ebay for around $15 The xm onyx runs on 5 volts dc as info. (Message edited by Redtail on February 05, 2012) | ||

I LOVE my Etymotic ER-6i earplugs/phones. It's amazing how small they made the "speakers". They have a number of different ear tips, but the ones I use while riding are the foam ones. They're just like regular foam earplugs, except the "speakers" fit inside them. You twist/crush them with your fingers into a smaller size, stick them in your ears, and they expand to block most noise (except that there are tiny speakers putting your music right into your ears). I find that I can use a lower volume than with regular earphones. They're great on airplanes too. | ||
