My, new to me, 07x hasn't had the BAS update. Is this a relocation issue, or a faulty sensor issue, or both. I think I should get this done, but one archive post said they moved it back to original location (for storage space?). Anyone else think this is a bad update?

If you don't have the comfort kit installed then the sensor is in a high heat area. Mine was supposed to be done but they forgot and at 29,000 miles I've still had no problem, however, I did install the comfort kit. This deflects heat from this area which might be the cause of failure. How many miles on your 07 and does it have the comfort kit?

The sensor is fine, it is just in a bad spot on stock 06/07s. The recall moves the sensor up to right behind the tail light.

My BAS relocate was never done, but when I had a dealer check my '06 for outstanding recalls when I purchased it used, they said it showed the BAS recall completed. Someone must have decided to collect the money for doing a mod that was not performed. I have installed the comfort kit as well, and am still not sure that I'll get the mod done. The dealer said they would get the parts and complete the mod any time I wanted, though.

My 2006 Uly had a problem with the BAS causing it to cut out mid corner!! I know other 06 bikes suffered the same, and thought this was the reason for the recall/exchange rather than just a relocation.

It didn't show up on any H-D scanalyser/digital tech tools at all, and I only located the problem eventually by removing the BAS completely!

The issue manifested itself like Trojan says. It was CAUSED by the BAS being in a high-heat area, near the rear shock - this location/environment caused rapid deterioration of the switch and electronics inside the BAS.

If you haven't had it done...and they'll do it for free...there's NO downside. Just get it done.

Thanks, all, for the input. They still are doing this recall work free, according to the shop I checked with. I plan to do it soon as I can.

The bad thing about the BAS relocation is it makes a nice storage area at the very rear of the under-seat area inaccessible.

If it means my bike won't cut out, I'll gladly give up a wallet-sized area.

That spot in my bike is full of brakelight flasher boxes anyway - even WITH the relocated BAS. 2 screws, pull the BAS out of the way, install my electronics, dress the wires, reinstall the BAS. Done.
