I've been running the Clearwater LIghts LED for well over a year on the '06.. added them to the '10 a few months ago Pics here http://gamdh.smugmug.com/Motorcycles/ClearWaterLig hts/10314905_xJQmzt Very good quality.. they have 2 version one is a true driving light the other is what I have (but works fine for me). | ||

I live vicariously through Michael's (Gamdh's) ownership of the Clearwater LED's. Once they no longer cost the equivalent of 4 times my monthly healthcare premiums, I might consider buying them. Until then, I quietly covet from afar, tearfully.  Don't tell him that though. In all seriousness, I had my finger on the trigger, ready to pull after doing a ton of LED research and came to the conclusion that the Clearwaters were my heart's desire. If you can buy in, jump in. For now, I get by with dim candles and chem-lights and never drive faster than 2nd gear will allow after dark. | ||

AdvRider has a vendor making nice LED lights. I'd get a couple Model 44's if I was currently willing to spend $200 on a pair of fog lights. i fabbed my own mount and have been using those adv lights for about a year...still working great. i would advise getting the dimmable versions...they are bright! | ||

I'd love to mount two of these in wide beam - one on each side, maybe where the turnsignals go http://www.rigidindustries.com/D2-Set-of-two-p/two d2s.htm And one of these on the flyscreen below the windscreen, just above the headlight in "spot". http://www.rigidindustries.com/product-p/eseries10 .htm I haven't tried it yet, but I think that'd be a heck of a lot of light and still not too much wattage for the buell to manage. Folks at Vegas to Reno had these (incl. the 52" versions) on their trucks/cars/UTVs and they sure were bright. | ||

I like the idea of LED's..but what concerns me is the difference between "other people seeing the brightness of the lights", and "using the lights to illuminate the roadway". I do want some aux lights for my CR...which requires low draw / low amperage. But I want to SEE, not BE SEEN. Deer don't care; I just wanna see them coming so I don't hit 'em! If the lights are good...$200 is better than a repair bill or a hospital bill. If the lights are good. | ||

I should modify that to just over 2 years.. just noticed the date on that pic gallery... I really like them and have had zero issues. My descision was based on 1. low power draw so I can run heated gear in the winter and both headlights. 2. Lights mounted as low as possible to create the light triangle for my visibility. 3. Didn't fill up with water every time it rain.... (I had very expensive hids.. that did that)  The ones I put on the '06 were one of the first kits they made for the Uly. I offered to be an install 'tester' and provide feed back for a discount =). (they gave me the same discount for the lights on the '10 over a year later)... you can always ask. They come with a dimmer and as pointed out above.. very nice to have. I also have mine wired with a switch thing (from Clearwater) so that when I turn on the high beams, the LEDs go to 100%.. back to low beam and they return to where I had them. That in conjunction with with switching pins so both lights are on for High beams does a pretty good job. They are expensive.. but sometimes you get what you pay for =). While deciding to but them, I called them several times...talked to the president of the company.. he really knows lights!! Their latest light product it a true driving light, requires a little more power but still really good on power and are claimed to really light up road (haven't seen them in person) (Message edited by gamdh on December 08, 2011) | ||

Thanks All a lot to take in I like the fact you can dim the clearwater lights and they look great on the ulysses I want a low mount flood light and I like where they put them. I work nights and with the time change I am driving in the dark I have a lot of deer on my ride near my home and a lot of back roads skunks and opossums don't want to hit either | ||
