I'd posted a month or two ago that my exhaust actuator went out, triggering a CEL. I first placed an order online with that dealership in the Windy City that has online ordering, only to get a message back a couple weeks later claiming supply chain issues, and they'd cancelled my order. Since the bike was still rideable, and it's the end of riding season here in MN, I went to a local dealer to order the part. They thought it would be 5-7 days. I called today, two weeks later, and they said that the status from HD showed an advisement, but it was too late in the day for them to tell me what that meant (HD corporate was closed for the day). Any idea what that means? Am I going to be waiting months for the part? |

Just buy an emulator http://www.trojan-horse.co.uk/prods/97.html Just plug it into the ECU in place of your exhaust valve and hey presto no warning light and no need for the servo motor |

unless you actually want the valve to work, which is the impression I'm getting here. check with one of our board sponsors, they can give you the backorder info. Or, post a part number here and I bet there's someone around who can look up its status for you. |

Hey Disco, if by this spring you still don't have it sorted out, I have one of the older actuators sitting on the shelf doing nothing. But it is the old one with the plastic gears and who knows how long it will last. Worse case scenario. |

ECM spy won't work (I don't think) because I have a 2008. The emulator is an interesting idea if I ever changed the exhaust, but yes, for now I'd prefer it it work. Thanks Greg - if I need to go this route I'll let you know. The parts guy called me back today. He should know by tomorrow where my part is being hung up. I've actually been very impressed with their customer service. |

Well, still no part. Riding season is pretty much done here, since we got a bunch of snow and ice this week. That said, the dealer has been very responsive in calling me with updates. They still don't have an update from HD - hopefully this week... |

I've got an actuator from an 06 Uly. If that would work for you how does $25 shipped sound? |

ECMSpy for Mono WILL work with an 08 bike. Alternatively, use ECMRead and set the bits in a text editor then write it back to the ECM. 1. Go to http://download.mono-project.com/archive/2.6.7/dow nload/ and install Mono 2. Go to www.ecmspy.com (Downloads and Tools) and download ECMRead 3. Download your EEPROM content from the ECM and identify your ECM firmware (from the title when you save it) e.g. BUEZD 4. Go to www.ecmspy.com and identify your ECM firmware on the left hand side of the screen 5. Search for "Error Mask Byte 4" 6. Note the offset, e.g. for BUEZD the offset is 0x05ed 7. Install HxD from http://mh-nexus.de/en/hxd/ 7. Open your EEPROM file in HxD data location using the left and top axii, then set the second number to 0 (it should be F - click in the middle of the two characters and type "0"). This sets all the error detection to "inactive" 8. Save it (as a different name) 9. Write it back to the ECM using ECMReas |

@Discochris... Going back to your parts question in the first post... I think the supply chain problems with the HD dealer in the windy city were their problems. I went on their website to order a rear luggage rack for the trunk and noticed they had taken down their online ordering so I called them. The parts guy I talked to said it would take 4 weeks to order the part. That's right "order" not receive. I found another online HD dealer in St. Louis, first initial "S" and ordered from them. Parts delivered in about 10 days. I also ordered a front fender for my 2001 S3T from another online HD dealer and got that in about two weeks. Both orders were placed in late Oct-early Nov. My point is that new Buell parts are still available in the HD supply chain. Barry} |

Call Gainesville Harley in Gainesville Florida. They will probably have the actuator in stock. http://www.gainesvilleharley.com/ |

Well, the issue with the dealer in Chicago might also have to do with HD's opposition to dealers selling online or through non-traditional means (like ebay). I think there's a lawsuit about this right now. I appreciate all the help. I'm willing to wait a little bit to see what happens. I paid for the part, and it's all icy here now, so I'm not terribly impatient... yet. |

Got the part today. Good news - the dealer (Wild Prairie HD-Buell) really went out of their way to help me get the part. They were very responsive, and eventually sourced the part from another dealer. I know that amongst the Buell crowd, they have a mixed reputation, but I can't say enough good things about their parts department after this. Bad news - if I had to get the part from HD, they will be out until at least February. That doesn't bode well. It's not an essential part, but what if it were? |
