Palmer is the way to go? Any other options? Anyone selling one?

Thanks!

There's also MadStad (I have one). I've no complaints yet. The little rubber pads did eventually fall off and after a quick call they sent a whole new set of pads out super-quickly, free of charge and no fuss. I even told them that the bracket was on the bike when I bought the bike, etc, so I give them a big thumbs up for customer service.

Love my Palmer brackets. I usually have them in the Highest position. Don't over tighten the windscreen bolts, 3 of 4 of mine cracked the windscreen. I thought just a little bit more than snug would be okay, wrong!

Same here with the cracks. I drilled tiny holes at the ends of the cracks to stop them from getting worse.

I have the Palmer and keep it in one position all year but I could see the desire to move it to the lowest position or remove it during the summer for more airflow. No matter which one you get, I recommend the optional support brackets.

MS uses an aluminum cowl, no support brackets involved with their current design.

New Madstad has reinforcement backup for use with the stock cowl. No extra brackets needed. I use the standard Buell tall that came with my 09

Hey, for you guys that use a lot of lock-tite, Do not use lock-tite on windshield screws. The lock-tite reacts with the windshield plastic and causes it to craze and crack where ever it contacts the plastic. As soon as you apply some pressure to the plastic the windshield will crack. This does not apply to all windshield plastics, but if you don't know what material your windshield is made of, play it safe and don't apply lock-tite to the mounting screws.

i have the palmer also and like it. do not have the support brackets for mine and it has given me no problems. it is well made and uses nylock nuts along w/ ss hardware, so thread lock is not needed. i believe the shield is palmer also. i do remove mine and replace w/ the stock small during the dead of summer here in FL to get more air. i have had no problems w/ crazing.

I just recieved my Palmer brackets very quickly from across the pond. Excellent fit and finish, easy install. Any suggestions on a starting point for Zero Gravity plus 4" screen? I cant really tell from the pictures I have seen where to set the adjustment. I am 6 feet tall with a 33 inseam, any suggestions are welcome otherwise I will start at the bottom and work my way up.

I have the same set up as you rwcfrank. The answer depends on what kind of riding I'm doing. If it's hot out, and I'm doing twisties, I'll have that thing down all the way. If it's colder or I'm doing a long trip on freeways, I'll have it up and out all the way. That's the beauty of the quick release adjusters on the palmers.

I have the Madstad with the aluminum cowl, love it. It has the clear Madstad windscreen on it.
Got it used from another BadWebber a couple years ago.

Just took it out for a test ride and I'm thoroughly impressed. I been annoyed by the buffeting for all these years for no reason. Great product, still fine tuning the positioning. Very happy camper here.

I love my Palmer brackets with the stock tall XT windscreen. I have them set at the highest position, center tilt. Works great for me at 6'0".

... any opinions on how the Palmer's have done (&pictures)? Do Palmer's come with any kind of reinforcement to bolt inside the flyscreen for support? I know the current MadStad recommendation is to not mount the brackets to the standard plastic flyscreen. They sell a combo with the brackets and the AL flyscreen.

Madstad also has a system for mounting to the plastic stock screen. I have it in place and have posted pictures to the site

Thanks Nose2wind. I definitely appreciate that thread. I remember following that a while back but it didn't pop back up when I did a search a little while ago (must have searched for the wrong thing). I remembered seeing those supports but when I started sending some questions in to MadStad recently they recommended the AL Flyscreen. It's good to know that the other solution is still working well for you. Thanks.
