Welcome. I hope you enjoy yours as much as I enjoy mine.

Oh, and you might want to invest in some earplugs.

You probably ought to confirm that fuel consumption, maybe a quick ride out to Telluride and back. We're quite demanding of proper scientific method and statistical integrity here.

The soft hot pink or bright orange foam earplugs are wonderful, tinitus not so much. I keep packages of earplug stashed all over the place, and in the pockets of all my riding gear. Surprisingly, it's the wind noise at highway speeds that can seriously injure your hearing.

Congrats on your new Uly! If you are so inclined, you'll have no problem selling that muffler for a good price. The stock can is nice and quiet. I really dig the sound of the high performance air-cooled American v-twin, but I'm not so keen on the attention generated by a loud exhaust. I still feel badly about years ago startling the little boy in the grocery store parking lot as a result of firing up the Cyclone in full race mode. I hadn't noticed he and his mother passing behind. Even from the far side of the parking lane, the little fellow's delicate young senses were so accosted that he immediately burst into tears.

I rode from Sturgis to Milwaukee in 11.5 hours one time (960 miles), and my ears have been ringing ever since, oh, about 11 years now......
Any of you guys taking a long trip, do yourself a huge favor and wear the plugs.

For that matter wear earplugs all the time when on motos. You'll suffer permanent hearing loss from the wind noise alone, not to mention exhaust noise on modded machines.

You guys, if your ears ring all the time, I'm sorry to say, but the damage has been done. We have a pretty stringent hearing conservation program in the Navy, and in my experience, if sailor's ears ring all the time, the hearing loss and ringing is most likely permanent. PLEASE wear proper hearing protection all the time, regardless of ride duration.

It's just Tinnitus, probably caused by
idiopathic intracranial hypertension!
Which all Buell riders get eventually.
It is caused by the hundreds of problems
with their bikes that constantly pop up.
Like, two days after they fixed the
last thing!
I'll tell you what I tell young couples....
"DON"T HAVE KIDS" aka "BUY A HONDA"

Ironically ... after my wife's beginning riders course this weekend a guy left on a Honda ... that actually sounded decent, not as good as my Uly but it did surprise me a bit. I tried not to drown him out too much.
