At cold start it is where it is supposed to be 1100 rpm. After 10 minutes, it is up close to 1500. What gives? Seems to run fine. Have had many issues this summer, mostly electrical but none related to this. | ||

What happens if you adjust it to 1100 RPM when hot? I think the adjustment is supposed to be done with a warm engine. If you do this and bike won't idle when cold, my first guess would be a vacuum leak, probably an intake manifold seal. | ||

On the '06 and '07 Uly's, the idle is happier a little lower than the 1050 that it should be at when warm. If it is set just a few rpm too high it can 'hang' as you slow to a stop. Idling at say 1800 then slowly coming down to 1200 or so. Look for a missing plug/cap on the right side of the throttle body on a vertical vacuum test pipe. I would clean the throttle plate with some carb cleaner, then set it at just above 1000 rpm when fully warmed up. If it still does not want to idle right, do a TPS reset and try again. If that does not give you the proper idle check for intake leaks. | ||

And yes...a TPS reset is to be done when the engine is H-O-T. | ||

I had the same thing happen to me last year . Check your ECM for cracks . | ||

Yes, it is and "ported vacuum" is the technical term I was taught. | ||

I JB welded that little pipe on the side of the throttle body in order to permanently plug it. I think Tootal put a screw in it ... that damn rubber cap kept turning up missing every time I looked. By the way, I personally didn't notice a difference in idle or anything else when I plugged it. | ||

ECM is good. Throttle body is good. Ooh, I did do the last TPS reset while cold. Oops. Idle readjusted while hot. Seems to be good, for now. Thanks. | ||

The only thing you're doing is bypassing the air cleaner with a small hole. I didn't use a screw, I used some silicone in the hole, around the hole and then put the cap on. I let it sit overnight before starting it. |
