Hi guys, I bought this bike new around 6 months ago. Some one has a micron exhaust up for sale here in my town which has done around 10,000 km (I'm in Australia). Just wondering if this would be a good option and can I get some one to just bolt it straight on or does it really need ecm as well ?

Any advice appreciated.

Here's some good info:http://www.americansportbike.com/Exhaust_Shootout. html

My personal recommendation is to leave it stock. You will have to upgrade the ECM if you swap pipes and still you will realize no significant increase in anything but the sound level.

The Microns exhaust is supposed to be one of the better ones for the XB bikes. Couldn't afford one myself, found a nice Buell race exhaust to use instead. No ECM required for the exhaust change although an ECM will supposedly increase overall runability/performance a bit.

Micron is very nice and no longer available. If I could get a second-hand system for a reasonable price I'd snap it up. The termi system looks really nice too, but is a bit expensive.

But if we look i think at least in europe 08,09 & 10 bikes have a different ECM and a catalitic exhaust, so not sure if any of the pre 08 exhausts would work on the 09 bike.

No I don't think we got the EU bikes, for example mine was made in Brazil, pretty sure we don't have the EU headers. Thanks for sharing guys, will give it some thought. I wonder about the catalitic exhaust, I had an '07 Stt before this bike and I'm pretty sure it had a bit more power ? Not that I really need any more power, just seems a bit flat sometimes.

Alan, post a pic of your bike, we can determine for sure what exhaust you have.

The 08+ export bikes are down on power compared to previous years, a new exhaust and a ECM will fix that.

The micron exhaust got sold and after riding it a bit after being away for a while I'm thinking I might just leave it stock, it's actually not too bad just the way it is !!! Thought I would post a couple pics anyway. maybe I will still replace the exhaust sometime in the future.

Alan... Sticking with the stock exhaust on your '09 is a good call. It is very good, working well with the bike, delivering a nice rumble without be too loud. When you get on the gas the volume increases nicely. I know more than a few, having gone the aftermarket muffler route, thinking of going back to stock.
