Has anyone had a rear wheel bearing fail causing irreparable damage to wheel, rotor, spacer, etc? Did the Harley or Harley extended warranty pay for the damaged parts other the actual bearing?

Absolutely.

More than likely they have. And under warranty, the warranty provider should.

That being said, at the end of the day, a warranty is just you giving money in return for promises and stated good intentions. Those promises are only as good as the entity making them. I hope your dealer is (a) good and (b) on your side.

If you do have to eat the costs, all isn't lost. Just buy the 2010 3 bearing wheel rig from American Sportbike and know you solved the problem. Others have chosen proactively even before a failure.

FtBastard here has an older style wheel he indicated he is willing to sell, so that's another option.

There have been several that have had that happen, HD replaces all the damage components under the standard 2 year unlimited mile warranty. Those components are anything that is damaged, including the wheel itself, rotor, sprocket, in really bad cases, swingarm.

I had a wheel assembly and swingarm replaced under warranty due to catatrosphic bearing failure.

Upon repair the tech discovered the belt was about to fail. The front and rear sproket was damaged and the idler pulley bearings were badly worn as well. Everything was replaced under the factory warranty.

I got a lot of work done for no $.........

I too had the bearings go at speed while on the express way. Ruined the wheel and and swing arm.

All was covered under warranty and the wheel was replaced with a 2010.

Had mine done last year. was not a catastrophic failure just heard a squeal while backing it out of garage one morning. Took it to my dealer and they ordered a wheel bearing and axle. All got upgraded to the 2010 specs it just took 7 weeks. In the meantime I bought a used wheel on ebay and switched the brake and sprocket and kept riding till the parts came. Got all the new stuff on along with a new front brake and pads. [warped and pulsing] all under warranty. been trouble free so far since the fix.
