Hello everyone!

Got my Uly back from Liberty Harley and it got a clean bill of health from them! Oil changed, new spark plugs and filters, etc. They also recomended and did a wheel bearing change for a nominal fee since the bike was there already. Good people and fast service.

I will admit I am not the most handy guy in the world but I can handle basic things like oil changes, etc.

It's been a while since I have gotten into a bike and did some work myself but for this Uly I vowed to change that so, with my comfort kit at hand, off I went to install it myself.

All in all it took me about 2 hours to finish as I was extra careful to make sure I knew were everything went back to! I also relocated the ECM and it all worked in the end! : )

Next step is changing the brake and shift levers for new ones and new hand guards, this sounds simple but a moron before me stripped the screws trying to do it poorly so it's gonna take some careful work.

For me this is all about small victories and enjoying time with my Uly, maybe I will meet some of you and get some pointers in other things like belt replacement, etc. Looking forward to it!

Thanks guys! The ECM is between the battery and the fuse box, I slid the fuse box to the opposite side further a bit by bending the holder back, just like recommended in the ECm thread, worked like a charm!

I was barely able to grip the stripped screws on my hand guards with the curved "toothy" section my new vice grips (see link below). It actually worked pretty well.

I previously have had luck with cutting a groove with a hacksaw and using a straight blade screwdriver to remove a stripped phillips head screw. That was my fall-back plan, but I didn't have to use it.

I was able to find replacement screws easily at Lowes.

Thanks for the good ideas! I will try that!
Does anyone happen to know what the screw sizes are for those grips? Both top and bottom?
I wanna replace them with stainless ones as soon as I get the crappy ones out!

Thanks!

Alright! Hits keep coming! Removed the screws using a robogrip set of pliers and replaced the brake and clutch levers as well as the handguards with brand new ones!

Also replaced the screws with steel hex ones so I don't think I will be having any more issues in the recent future with them! : )

So far so good! I also received and added my cell phone/gps mount to the handle bars and a small tank bag for the ez pass and loose items I carry on my daily commute.
